You got a great price for your catalytic converters. But is that enough to know you got a good deal?

Before choosing a recycling partner, there are a few things worth looking at beyond the initial number 👇

Same car model. Different market. Same converter?
Not necessarily.
Here’s why ▶️

We’re making it easier to move more of your automotive scrap👇

When our buyer visits your facility to pick up catalytic converters, we can now take more off your hands at the same time:

- Aluminum wheels
- Starters and alternators
- A/C compressors
- Copper wiring harnesses
- Fuse blocks
- Electronic control units

One visit means more material out of your yard, fewer pickups to arrange, and faster inventory turnover.

👉 We pay cash on the spot, help with loading, and depending on the material, you can sell by the piece or by the pound.

Prefer to drop it off? You can visit us in Newark, OH; Baltimore, MD; Johnson City, TN; or San Marcos, TX - no appointment needed.

What does palladium have to do with an asteroid? More than you might think👇

When William Hyde Wollaston discovered palladium in 1802, he looked to space for inspiration. He named the new metal after Pallas, an asteroid discovered just a year earlier.

More than 200 years later, palladium is playing an important role back on Earth.
Its properties make it particularly valuable in automotive catalytic converters, where it helps drive reactions that reduce harmful exhaust pollutants.

Did you know the story behind palladium’s name? Follow us for more PGM Facts.

After catalytic converter material has been processed, sampled, and carefully analyzed, there's one more important stage ahead.

Refining.

Through specialized refining processes, platinum, palladium, and rhodium are separated from the processed material and brought to the purity required for future industrial use.

And because Elemental's network includes refining capabilities, the journey stays connected from material processing and laboratory analysis through precious metal recovery.

The result?
♻️ Valuable PGMs recovered from spent catalytic converters can return to the supply chain and begin their next chapter.

On Zero Emissions Day, we're taking a closer look at a small but important part of every combustion-engine vehicle: the catalytic converter.

Before exhaust gases reach the air, chemical reactions inside convert harmful pollutants like carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides into less harmful substances, driven by precious metal catalysts like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which accelerate the process without being consumed.

Their role doesn't have to end there. These valuable metals can be recovered from spent converters, refined, and returned to the supply chain for future use.

♻️ From limiting pollution to giving valuable materials another life, catalytic converters play an important role.
