Went for a quick 1 1/2 hour pick this afternoon on Palomar Mountain (after my day job). I picked a couple big ole trees and a couple younger recently planted trees. The first tree (pic 2) is a variety that I haven't yet ID'd but is obviously a domesticated variety. It's got fairly high acidity and great flavor, is semi oblate, but is easily damaged. The second tree (pic 3), I am becoming convinced is a seedling based on the trunk and not finding anything that matches. The apples are mostly green with light red striping and a blush where exposed to the sun. It's subacid with a nice flavor and crisp flesh. All in all, I got almost 350lbs of apples.

This orchard was originally planted in the 1800's by the Bailey's and is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, my only company today were the mule deer, turkeys, and various song birds.

We need to make a trip back in 2 weeks to harvest Winesap and either Stayman or King David (still working out that ID, I'm leaning toward King David now) as well as Lady apples.

These local Newtown Pippin apples have since started on their journey to become c***r; meanwhile you can come grab a drink and sit in our tasting room while they ferment and age along with the other c***rs we have pressed this harvest. You can even drink some of their older brethren (2020 Newtown Pippin) while that c***r lasts.

Remember, when you drink with us, you're supporting local San Diego County farms and families; plus, all our fruit is grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides so you're not drinking poison.

It's an idyllic setting amongst the firs, cedars, pines, black oaks, ferns, and so much natural beauty. I'll look forward to hearing from some of you. This should be our last big harvest

New Public Releases:

2024 Black Twig - dry. Sparkling single-variety c***r. Rich and wonderful

TWO CIDERS NAMED AFTER OUR TWIN GRANDDAUGHTERS:
2025 Juniper- one of two c***rs of the same apples. This one was half barrel fermented and aged and half tank fermented then blended together. Dry, bright, with hints of grapefuit, and fun.
2025 Rue - the other c***r of the same apples. This was 100% barely fermented and aged. Also, dry, bright, with hints of grapefruit, but softer and a bit more serious.

2022 Cinsault- a carbonic maceration with fruity notes and body, it's a tasty red w**e.

Blackberry Infused C***r Vinegar - c***r vinegar from our c***r infused with organic blackberries from Absolutely delicious
