Every year I watch our District 5 neighbors turn good ideas into real projects: a community garden, a mentoring program, a block that finally feels safer because someone stepped up. That’s what the Mayor’s Matching Grant Program makes possible, and applications for 2027 funding are open right now!
 
Neighborhood organizations can apply for up to $5,000, and schools and nonprofits can apply for up to $10,000. Beautification, youth mentoring, public safety, academic enrichment; if it strengthens our neighborhoods, this grant can help get it off the ground!

🚨 FLORIDA FAMILIES: FREE SWIM LESSON VOUCHERS ARE BACK! 🏊‍♀️💦
Great news: Florida’s Swimming Lesson Voucher Program has re-opened applications — with expanded eligibility so more children can qualify for FREE swim lessons!

The program is now available to Florida families who meet these requirements:
💙 Children ages 1–7 at the time of application
💙 Florida residency
💙 Gross family income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines
💙 Lessons must begin within 180 days after the voucher is issued

Applications are open now and vouchers will be awarded until available funding runs out, so eligible families should apply as soon as possible.

This year, we passed legislation to expand voucher funding and eligibility (SB 428) to save lives! Drowning remains the leading cause of unintentional death for Florida children ages 1–4. Swim lessons are an important layer of protection and can give our kids lifesaving skills around the water.

Remember, Florida all Medicaid beneficiaries are already eligible for child swim lesson coverage!
