More businesses that work directly or indirectly with the federal government may soon find themselves subject to stronger cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

If your organization handles Federal Contract Information (FCI) or Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), now is the time to understand where you stand.

Preparing early can help you:
• Identify compliance gaps before they become urgent
• Strengthen cybersecurity controls
• Protect your eligibility for federal contracts
• Avoid last-minute remediation when requirements hit

CMMC is no longer something only large defense contractors need to think about. Suppliers, subcontractors, service providers, and other organizations supporting the federal ecosystem should be paying attention.

⚠️ Microsoft 365 pricing changed on July 1, 2026. Here's the plain-English version.

You don't need to track every Microsoft memo — you need to know how this hits your bill:

- New pricing applies to new and renewing customers. If you're an existing customer, you stay on your current rate until your first renewal after July 1.
- Microsoft is now bundling features that used to cost extra — like Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 and expanded Copilot capabilities. You may be getting more without realizing it.
- Automatic volume discounts under Enterprise Agreements also went away back on Nov 1, 2025.

Here's where we come in. As your IT team, we handle the parts that actually save you money:
✅ Auditing your license usage and dropping seats nobody touches — every idle license is money gone.
✅ Re-running the Business Standard vs. Premium math now that the value gap has shifted.
✅ Timing your renewal, including whether locking current rates early makes sense.

Studies show most companies waste 30%+ of their license spend. For a small business, that's real money — and it's exactly the kind of thing we take off your plate.

Running a small practice or clinic? Here's what "HIPAA-compliant email" actually takes.

You don't need enterprise infrastructure to get this right — you need the right five pieces:

🔐 Encryption — Patient info needs to be scrambled so only the right person can read it, both while it's being sent and while it's sitting in the inbox.
📝 A signed BAA — Any company that handles your patient data has to sign a special agreement first. Free Gmail and personal Outlook won't sign one. The paid business versions of Google and Microsoft will — but someone has to actually set that up.
👤 Access controls — MFA and a unique login per person. That shared front-desk inbox? It fails the Security Rule.
🧾 Audit logs + retention — track who accessed what, and keep records ~6 years.
🚫 Add a safety net — A tool that catches patient info before it accidentally goes to the wrong person.

As your IT team, we'll pick the right service, and lock everything down — so you're protected before anything ever goes wrong.

🤖 Picking an AI assistant for your business? Ask these 5 questions first.

Here's the shortlist that actually protects a growing business:

1️⃣ Where does your data go? Look for a signed data-protection agreement and clear "we don't train on your data" terms. Your client info is your reputation.
2️⃣ Does it plug into what you already run? M365, Google Workspace, your CRM — integration beats novelty for a lean team.
3️⃣ Can you control access? Role-based permissions and audit logs matter the moment you have more than a couple of employees.
4️⃣ What's the real cost? Per-seat pricing adds up fast on a small budget. Match the tier to who actually needs it.
5️⃣ Will your team actually use it? The best assistant is the one that fits a real Tuesday workflow, not the flashiest demo.

Start with one painful task and pilot there. Prove the value before you scale the spend.

What the tech giants are building next — and why it matters for your business.

We keep an eye on Microsoft, Google, and Apple so you don't have to. Here's what's coming down the pipeline and what it means for you:

Google is embedding Gemini AI directly into Android and Workspace — moving AI from a separate app into the tools your team already uses every day. Translation: more automation baked into email, docs, and mobile devices.

Microsoft continues folding Copilot straight into Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. If your business runs on M365, AI features are increasingly part of the license you already pay for — worth knowing before you buy standalone tools.

Apple is expected to refresh its iPhone and Watch lineup this fall, with a major Siri/Apple Intelligence overhaul. For businesses with mobile teams or BYOD policies, that means device-refresh and security-policy planning ahead.

The bottom line: AI is becoming built-in, not bolt-on. The smart move isn't chasing every launch — it's making sure you're not paying twice for capabilities your current stack already includes.

Many businesses think they have a backup... until they actually need it.

The reality is that different types of backups protect different parts of your business. Choosing the right solution depends on what you're protecting.

Here's a quick breakdown of our backup solutions:

☁️ Cloud Application (SaaS) Backup
Protects your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data—including emails, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and more—from accidental deletion, ransomware, or retention limitations.

📁 File & Folder Backup
Safeguards important files and folders on workstations and servers, making it easy to recover lost or deleted data without restoring an entire system.

💾 Image Backup
Creates a complete backup of an entire computer or server—including the operating system, applications, settings, and data—allowing for fast disaster recovery when hardware fails or ransomware strikes.

The real question isn't "Do we have backups?"

It's "Are we backing up everything our business depends on?"

Not sure if your current backup strategy leaves gaps? We'd be happy to review it and help ensure your business is fully protected. Call us today @ 360-516-6741 or 360-504-3272.

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the workplace—but without clear guidelines, it can also introduce serious risks.

An AI Use Policy helps your business:
✅ Protect confidential and customer data
✅ Reduce the risk of employees sharing sensitive information with public AI tools
✅ Ensure AI is used ethically and responsibly
✅ Maintain compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
✅ Establish clear expectations for employees

AI is a powerful productivity tool, but it should be used intentionally—not without oversight.

If your team is already using AI tools, now is the time to create an AI policy before a small mistake becomes a major security incident.

Need help developing an AI policy or implementing secure AI solutions for your business? We're here to help.

Artificial Intelligence isn't going anywhere. In fact, your employees may already be using it — whether your business has an AI plan or not.

AI can be an incredible tool for:

- Saving time on repetitive tasks
- Drafting emails and documents
- Summarizing information and data
- Brainstorming ideas
- Improving workflows and productivity

But there's a catch…

🚨 AI needs to be used responsibly.

Employees should know what information is safe to enter into AI tools, which AI platforms are approved, and how to verify AI-generated information before using it.

Copying confidential client information, financial data, passwords, or sensitive business documents into the wrong AI tool can create a serious security risk.

That's where WE can help.

We can help your business understand how AI fits into your workplace, create safe AI-use guidelines, and show your team how to use AI as a tool — without putting your business or data at risk.

* AI isn't replacing smart businesses. Smart businesses are learning how to use AI smarter.

Ready to see how AI can work for your business? Call us today @ 360-516-6741 or 360-504-3272.

Phishing emails aren't always full of spelling mistakes and obvious red flags anymore. Today's scams can look incredibly convincing — and attackers are using new tactics to get around traditional security.

⚠️ Some of the phishing scams we're seeing right now include:

- QR Code Phishing — Emails asking you to scan a QR code to verify your account, view a document, or reset MFA.

- Fake Microsoft 365 Verification — Attackers may direct you to a legitimate Microsoft verification page and trick you into entering a device code that can give them access to your account.

- AI-Written Phishing Emails — Cleaner grammar, better wording, and more personalized messages make scams harder to recognize.

- Invoice & Payment Scams — Fake requests to change banking information, update direct deposit, or pay an "urgent" invoice.

- Email + Phone Scams — An email is followed by a phone call or text to make the request seem more legitimate.

Microsoft reported detecting approximately 8.3 BILLION email-based phishing threats in the first quarter of 2026 alone. QR code phishing was also one of the fastest-growing attack methods during that period.

- What should you look for?

Unexpected QR codes. Urgent requests. Login or MFA prompts you didn't initiate. Changes to payment information. And any message pressuring you to act RIGHT NOW.

- When in doubt — stop, verify, and ask IT before clicking, scanning, approving, or entering a code.

- Want your team to get better at spotting these attacks?

We offer cybersecurity awareness classes designed to help employees recognize real-world threats before a simple click becomes a very expensive problem.
