Day 2 of 2026 EHVFC “Rookie Training Academy” was yesterday 6/14/2026. We had an incredible 14 Training Officers including every line officer present putting effort into our newest people.

Congratulations to our Outstanding Young Members of the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company who just graduated high school!

At Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, we are incredibly proud of the dedication, commitment, and hard work demonstrated by our newest generation of emergency services professionals. Today, we'd like to recognize four exceptional members who continue to make a positive impact on our organization and our community.

Matthew Berumen (Chesapeake High School)
Since joining EHVFC in August 2024, Matthew has achieved NREMT and Maryland EMT certification, completed Firefighter I and HazMat Operations, and is fully cleared as an Ambulance Technician. Matthew currently holds the distinction of being the #1 EMS responder by staffing hours at EHVFC—a remarkable accomplishment that reflects his dedication to serving others. He also serves on our Membership Committee.

Tanner Strom (Severna Park High School)
One of our newest members, Taner joined EHVFC in August 2025 and has already completed Firefighter I training. He is currently enrolled in HazMat Operations, taking important steps toward becoming a well-rounded firefighter and first responder.

Lily Bodiker (Severna Park High School)
Joined EHVFC in March 2024 and has already earned her NREMT and Maryland EMT certifications while completing HazMat Awareness training. Lily is currently working toward clearance as an Ambulance Technician and serves as our Social Committee Co-Chairperson, helping strengthen the bonds within our fire company family.

Jayo Johnston (Severna Park High School)
Joining in March 2024, Jayo has earned both NREMT and Maryland EMT certifications and completed HazMat Awareness training. He is currently working toward his clearance as an Ambulance Technician and continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to learning.

These young men and women represent the future of the fire and EMS service. Their willingness to step forward, train, learn, and serve their community speaks volumes about their character and commitment.

Please join us in congratulating Matthew, Tanner, Lily and Jayo on their accomplishments and wishing them continued success as they advance their careers in emergency services.

Today 6/7/2026 was day 1 of the 2026 EHVFC “Rookie Training Academy”. This event will continue over the next 2 Sundays.
The object is to get rookie candidates through all of their engine tasks and qualified to ride unsupervised.

What is your volunteer station doing to build your skills?
