Every slab has a story. This one started with an old red truck. 🇮🇹
Long before Santa Margherita became what it is today, one of its founders, Mr. Butturini, would drive this red truck to marble quarries throughout Italy, purchasing leftover pieces of marble and loading them by hand.
He would then take those marble chunks directly to job sites, where Italian craftsmen used them to create Palladiana flooring, a centuries-old technique in which irregular pieces of marble are broken on site and set into a cement-based matrix.
Those trips sparked an idea.
What if those beautiful remnants of Italian marble could become something more?
That inspiration helped lead to the creation of Santa Margherita’s first marble tiles and eventually the Palladio Collection, whose name pays homage to the Palladiana tradition that helped inspire it. We have quite a few new followers so we thought it would be a great time to share a little history and will be spotlighting SM Marble options to introduce you to all of our gorgeous options.
