At Hopes Promise Respite, we remember with gratitude the ultimate sacrifices of those who served for our “Stars, Stripes, and Service” Memorial Day Weekend Respite.

We gathered for our Memorial Arts and Crafts Social where we made our own honorary wreaths, hit the gym, then we made our way to the waves at Sahara Sam’s Oasis Water Park for the splashy slides, arcade, great food, and no stress!

We hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day!

The Berlin Mart arcade trip paired with lowkey office karaoke offers a perfect, rainy-day respite care activity by balancing structured, nostalgic public engagement with a secure, highly customizable private environment. Respite care requires activities that minimize sensory overload, reduce stress for caregivers, and accommodate unpredictable weather, which this specific itinerary achieves effortlessly.

The historic Berlin Farmers Market provides an indoor, climate-controlled environment that completely bypassed the rainy weather hurdles. The nostalgic Arcade games offered intuitive, tactile, and instantly recognizable gameplay that lowers the cognitive barrier to entry and access to public energy without the intense pressure of direct, complex social interactions.

And of course, closing the day with some games and karaoke encouraged pure emotional expression. Familiar, therapeutic music provided the cognitive recall, and the singing releases all those endorphins!
