TERMINOLOGY TUESDAY

We often get asked, "What is a DSP?"

DSP stands for Direct Support Professional and is someone who provides direct support to individuals with disabilities.

DSPs are essential to our communities because they provide the daily, personalized support that allows individuals with disabilities to live independently, work, and fully participate in community life.

DSPs will foster independence and provide daily care and personalized assistance: DSPs help individuals with everyday activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and medication management.

When it comes to skill building, DSPs act as teachers and mentors, helping clients learn new life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and self-care to build self-confidence.

DSPs manage complex health routines, coordinate medical appointments, and track wellness goals.

Moreover, as it pertains to driving community inclusion and social connections, DSPs help clients build meaningful relationships, join local clubs, and engage in recreational activities.

For the July 4th weekend, we geared up for an unforgettable Summer
Adventure!

Hopes Promise Respite adult day programs and caregiver services always entail engaging community outing for adults with disabilities, and our ultimate Independence Day celebration kept us indoors at the American Dream Adventure Park due to the extreme temperatures.

As you can see, we all stayed cool and still had an amazing time celebrating the 4th of July!🎢✨🎇
