𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗸𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

Sun, Moon & Planets are in the sky on June 17th. Will there be clouds though? One way to find out is to consult the Clear Sky Chart for... Simi Valley in this case. Scattered across the continent of North America you may find a Clear Sky Chart near you!

We've been watching the one near us and it was looking very clear until recently...

You can find details below the 'Chart' on the website to learn more about each individual color block. A quick way to 'read' this chart though - the more blue in any given column, the better. And the darker it is, the nicer the sky will be for observing.

Astronomers care about several aspects of the sky when observing. How clear is the sky? How still is the sky [seeing]? Can you see far [transparency] and now they show you smoke. Around here, they can't help us with the marine layer...yet.

We'd love to see YOU on Wednesday, June 17th at 5p Pacific time in Simi Valley - behind the Burger King on Los Angeles near First Street in Simi Valley. Look for the balloons!

We'll set up the new telescope, a spotting scope and some binoculars (when the Sun sets) so you can view these celestial bodies through several different instruments to see the difference. There will be food and prizes and even a cloudy sky is useful. Rain though, that's when we cancel.

It's Official - on Wednesday, June 17th, we will put our NEW telescope to the test.

The first time a telescope is put to its intended use, it's called "First Light."

Hence, First Light Party!

If you are local to Simi Valley, CA you are welcome to attend this
