Packaging color is evolving beyond aesthetics.

In 2026, color is being used more strategically across packaging. Instead of relying on bold palettes alone, brands are combining natural tones, muted colors, and controlled accents to create designs that feel both modern and intentional.

This shift reflects a broader change in how packaging works. Color is now used to communicate sustainability, create a premium look, and even help organize product lines and guide customer experience.

The result is packaging that is not only visually appealing, but also more functional and scalable.

We put together a guide that breaks down these changes and how they apply across retail and eCommerce packaging.

If you are sourcing packaging today, you may have noticed that the process is becoming more detailed.

It is no longer just about selecting a material or comparing costs. Many teams are now reviewing chemical disclosures, checking sustainability certifications, and asking for more complete supplier documentation.

Things like PFAS, FSC certification, recycled content verification, and EPR regulations are starting to play a bigger role in everyday packaging decisions.

This shift is leading to more structured processes. Clear specifications, better documentation, and more detailed RFPs are helping teams compare suppliers more effectively and avoid issues later on.

We put together a practical guide that breaks down what to look for, what to request from suppliers, and how to approach packaging decisions with more clarity.

It’s hard to believe this started with shopping bags.

A ten-year-old transformed 28 reusable totes into a full look for Paris Fashion Week.

For Earth Month, Free People featured this piece by Max Alexander showing how something simple can become something extraordinary.

Max’s ability to work with material and form feels both natural and refined, turning everyday packaging into something completely unexpected.

These are the same totes we produced as reusable packaging, originally designed to be used again and again.

Seeing them reimagined like this is a great reminder that packaging can take on a life far beyond its original purpose.

There is a moment brands are trying to create.

A customer receives a package, pauses, and looks at it before opening. Sometimes they take a photo. Sometimes they keep the box.

That moment does not happen by accident.

Limited edition packaging is increasingly part of how brands launch products. It is no longer just about protecting what is inside. It helps shape how the product is perceived before it is even revealed.

When done well, packaging can extend the life of a launch far beyond the initial purchase. It becomes something people reuse, display, or share.

We are seeing this across industries, where packaging becomes part of the story instead of just the container.

If you are thinking about your next launch, this is worth considering.

Are IKEA-style oversized tote bags a trend that’s ending… or one that’s here to stay?

For years, these large reusable bags have gone far beyond simple packaging. They’ve become part of everyday life. People use them for shopping, travel, storage, and more.

Because they’re durable and reusable, they stay in circulation for years, turning into long-term brand exposure for retailers.

That’s why so many brands adopted this format. It combines practicality, visibility, and sustainability in a way few packaging options can match.

But now IKEA has confirmed that the iconic FRAKTA bag will be phased out in April 2026 as a new version replaces it.

So what does that mean for retailers?

Are oversized reusable totes losing relevance, or evolving into something even more strategic?

We break down why this format has lasted so long and what it means for the future of retail packaging.

Are you shipping in the right format… or just the familiar one?

A lot of brands default to corrugated shipping boxes because that is what they have always used. Others switch everything to mailers to save on cost.

But the real question is: does your product actually need that format?

A fragile, high-value item may deserve the structure and presentation of a corrugated shipping box. Soft goods might ship perfectly in a poly mailer. Semi-fragile items often fit best in a bubble mailer.

And then there is right-sizing. Carriers charge by dimensional weight, which means extra space inside a box can quietly increase your shipping cost. A product that fits properly not only protects better, it feels more intentional when it arrives.

Sometimes the smartest strategy is mixing formats across your SKUs instead of forcing one solution across everything.

We broke down how to decide between corrugated shipping boxes and mailers, plus when hybrid packaging makes the most sense.

Sustainable packaging has evolved fast, and the rules around how we talk about it have changed too.

Terms like compostable, recyclable, biodegradable, and FSC®-certified are everywhere, but they are not interchangeable, and assumptions can create real risk for brands.

This carousel breaks down what these terms actually mean in 2026, why familiar recycling symbols no longer tell the full story, and what teams need to think about when designing and labeling packaging.
