Another South Hill roof brought back to life! 🏠🍂

This roof had years of pine needles, loose moss, and organic debris collecting between the shingles. We carefully cleared and brushed the surface to help protect the roof, improve drainage, and prepare it for Spokane’s wet fall weather.

Today’s job on Spokane’s South Hill was far more than a simple roof blow-off!

We removed a thick buildup of pine needles and organic debris, cleared the accessible gutters, and carefully removed approximately 25–35 gallons of heavily overgrown moss by hand. The difference was substantial, but mechanical removal is only the first step—a professional low-pressure soft-wash treatment is recommended to kill the remaining moss roots and spores.

One section near the front will also need the surrounding tree growth pruned back before it can be safely accessed.

Pre-rinsing this North Indian Trail home before yesterday’s soft-wash treatment. 💦🏡

A thorough pre-rinse is an important part of our process. It saturates and helps protect the surrounding plants and surfaces before we apply the cleaning solution. Then we gently soft wash the siding to break down dirt, dust, algae, and organic buildup without using damaging high pressure.

Another Five Mile Prairie home cared for today! 🏡

We cleaned and flushed the gutters, treated the roof with a professional soft wash to address moss and organic growth, washed the exterior of the home, and cleaned the deck—including underneath.

Today was all about careful preparation for tomorrow’s soft-wash treatment.

We scraped the gutters into piles, blew out the dry debris, and hand-scooped the wet material to keep the property clean. After flushing the gutters, we discovered several leaking seams, so we used extremely low pressure to remove the remaining muck and push out the standing water, leaving the gutters as dry as possible.

We also thoroughly rinsed the roof to remove loose dirt and fine debris and rinsed the surrounding surfaces in preparation for tomorrow. Next, we’ll apply the roof treatment and give the exterior of the home a gentle soft wash using a very mild solution.

Good exterior cleaning isn’t just about the final result—it’s about taking the time to protect the home and do every step correctly.

Today, while cleaning windows three stories high, I listened to The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer.

It spoke directly to so much of what I’ve been learning and sharing: we can become so consumed with what needs to happen next that we miss what God is doing right now. We hurry through the wilderness, hurry through the work, and even hurry through the healing—but God is present in all of it.

Joy isn’t pretending that life is easy. It’s choosing to recognize that God is still good, still working, and still walking with us—even in the pressure, the waiting, and the ordinary work of today.

Slow down. Be present. Think of joy.
