“I’ll do anything to help during your move.”

I say that a lot, but this week it took on a whole new meaning.

One of my client’s family members asked if I would take their loved one to the casino while her belongings were being moved and her new home was being unpacked. Why? Because going to the casino and playing the slots was one of her favorite things to do, but she hadn’t had the opportunity to go very often.

So that’s exactly what we did.

While movers handled the boxes and the family prepared her new space, we spent the afternoon at the casino. We laughed, visited, played the slots, and most importantly, she had a wonderful time. Seeing her smile and hearing how excited she was made the day absolutely worth it.

Moving can be stressful, confusing, and emotional for seniors. Sometimes the best way to help isn’t just coordinating the move—it’s creating a positive experience and a special memory during the transition.

At Compass Care, every move is different because every person is different. This time, helping meant being a casino buddy for the afternoon.

And honestly? We had a great time.

Memorial Day is not just about a three-day weekend, barbecues, or time at the lake. It is about remembering the men and women who gave their lives so the rest of us could live in freedom. 🇺🇸

Every freedom we enjoy today was paid for by someone who never made it home to their family.

As Americans, we should never become so comfortable that we forget the cost of liberty. Teach your children to respect the flag, honor our military, love this country, and appreciate the sacrifices made by generations before us.

This weekend, while we gather with friends and family, take a moment to remember the families carrying the weight of loss every single day.

Freedom is not free — and America remains worth protecting. ❤️🤍💙
