"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; neither does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:13-16, NAS)

Lord, help us be salt and light, in Jesus' name. (Art by Tim Cox, used by permission. Thanks, Tim, and God bless you.)

"How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog- it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, 'If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.' Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil." (James 4:14-16, NLT). Lord, Your perfect will be done in our lives, in Jesus' name. (Art by Mark Maggiori, used by permission. Thanks, Mark, and God bless you.) "Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40: 28-31, NLT).

Lord, help us find new strength, in Jesus' name. (Art by Don Weller, donweller.com. Used by permission. Thanks, Don, and God bless you.)

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge cloud of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do so by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne." (Hebrews 12:1-2, NLT).

Lord, help us stay focused on You as we run with endurance the race You have set before us, in Jesus' name. (Art by Ann Hanson, annhanson.com. Used by permission. Thanks, Ann, and God bless you.)
