We aren’t just a family making wine - we create stories. We are all about dry-farming our 10 acres in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles.

We let Mother Nature produce wines that define each harvest 🍇 Stop by - feel the charm that is a family biz🍷 Family owned and operated winery concentrates predominately on Italian varietals, making small lot, single vineyard premium red and white wine. The Estate's vineyard is planted in the noble Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals and is one of the few dry farmed, head trained, Sangiovese vineyards in California. Dry-farming has a major influence in our wine style, and, because we grew up around it, we believe it makes better wine. Our natural yeast fermentation process further enhances the character of our wines. We look forward to sharing our distinct and delicious wines with you—Salute!

Well, that escalated quickly. 🍇

We brought in our first fruit on August 12 and our last on September 17. The earliest and fastest harvest any of us have ever seen! Usually we’re just getting into the swing of things in mid-September, but this year the grapes had other plans.

It was a whirlwind, and the fruit looked amazing. Now we get to watch the 2026 vintage take shape - and, eventually, taste what it has in store. We can’t wait to share it with you. 🍷✨

Cheers to Harvest 2026!

Today marks four years since we lost Sherman - the day that changed everything.

We have kept going. We keep making great w**e, tending the land and harvesting the vineyards he helped plant. But today remains the toughest day of the year for our Bella Luna family.

This harvest feels so much like the harvest of 2022. We had Nebbiolo on the table the day we lost him, and this Thursday, we’ll bring in the 2026 Nebbiolo. So many of the same things are happening four years apart, and sometimes it feels as though no time has passed at all.

We talk about Sherm every day. His stories, his humor, his ideas and the unmistakable way he did everything are still woven into this place.

Yesterday, as we harvested the estate vineyard, you could almost hear him out there with us.

And it was wonderful.

F-U, Sherman. We love and miss you every. single. day. ❤️

🍇 Harvest season is underway in Paso Robles w**e country!

This is one of the most exciting times of year to visit Bella Luna Estate W**ery. Grapes are coming off the vines, harvest bins are filling up, and the work of creating the next vintage has begun.

But what determines when it's time to pick? Weather plays a huge role, especially in a dry-farmed vineyard. Warm days, cool Templeton Gap evenings, available soil moisture, sugar development, acidity, and even the forecast can influence when grapes make their journey from vine to w**ery.

Our latest article takes you behind the scenes of Paso Robles harvest season, including how this year's warmer temperatures have influenced harvest timing, what happens once the grapes are picked, and what visitors can expect when they stop by a working estate w**ery during the busiest time of year.

And yes, during harvest, even our tasting room may have to share a little space with the w**emaking operation. That's part of the fun. 🍷🍇

We’re excited to have Bella Luna Estate W**ery pour at the Grand Tasting at the 16th Annual Garagiste Festival: Paso Robles!

Bella Luna’s story began with two lifelong friends, Kevin Healey and Sherman Smoot, and a shared passion for making w**e. Their Paso Robles estate is home to Carly’s Vineyard, one of the few dry-farmed, head-trained Sangiovese vineyards in California, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Dolcetto.

Today, the next generation is helping carry that vision forward, keeping Bella Luna rooted in what we love about small-production w**e: family, craftsmanship and a genuine connection to the vineyard.

And that’s exactly what the Garagiste Grand Tasting is about — getting the chance to meet the people behind the w**es and discover producers you may not come across every day.

🍷 Be sure to find Bella Luna at Saturday’s Grand Tasting and see what they’ll be pouring!
