Michigan's largest compensation survey is here.

ASE has released the 2026 ASE Compensation Survey — covering 600 positions across 467 Michigan employers and more than 110,000 employees. The results show steady wage growth of 3.3% amid continued economic uncertainty and a tightening labor market.

Top-growing job families this year:
🔹 Facilities & Maintenance — 4.4%
🔹 Sales & Marketing — 4.1%
🔹 Field Service/Sales — 4.0%
🔹 Accounting & Finance — 3.7%
🔹 Manufacturing & Plant Management — 3.7%

As ASE President & CEO Mary Corrado noted, Michigan employers continue to navigate a complex environment shaped by economic uncertainty, a slower-moving labor market, and ongoing workforce challenges — and having reliable market data is essential to making informed pay decisions and remaining competitive.

A California court has allowed a high-profile lawsuit involving allegations of race-based harassment at a Tesla facility to proceed to a jury, underscoring the growing legal and operational risk tied to workplace response systems and HR capacity.

The case raises serious questions about whether complaints were appropriately addressed and whether understaffed HR functions contributed to delayed or ineffective action. For HR leaders, it reinforces how critical it is to have the structure, staffing, and escalation pathways in place to respond quickly when concerns are raised.

When workplace concerns go unresolved, the risk extends well beyond compliance exposure. It affects culture, trust, and the organization’s ability to demonstrate that concerns are taken seriously and handled consistently.

A California court has ruled that a jury should decide whether Tesla failed to address allegations of race-based harassment at its Fremont manufacturing facility, allowing most of the state's discrimination lawsuit to move forward. Understaffed HR may have led to this costly lawsuit. The lawsuit, fi...

There is still time to register for the ASE Survey Briefing in Muskegon!

Nearly half of ASE members participated this year, with 467 organizations completing the survey and providing data across 600 job titles. About 20% of participating organizations were from the West Michigan region, reflecting strong representation from the Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Holland areas.

The results arrive at a time when many organizations are balancing competing pressures around pay competitiveness, budget discipline, and evolving talent expectations. Access to current, reliable benchmarking data helps bring clarity and confidence to those decisions.

Join us for the survey briefing in Muskegon on June 9 to hear key insights and explore what the findings mean for your organization.
