October is . A time to come together in honor and support of the women and men whose lives have been affected by breast cancer, while raising awareness about the importance of early detection.
Regular screenings and early detection can play an important role in identifying breast cancer at an earlier stage, when treatment may be more effective. Approximately 1 in 8 women and 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Outcomes can vary based on factors such as family history, stage at diagnosis, age, race, and access to care.
This month, take a moment to prioritize your health, stay up to date with recommended screenings, and encourage the people you care about to do the same. Many communities also offer free or low-cost mammograms, educational programs, and support resources for those who need them.
