You have consumed every podcast.

Who am I when nobody is watching?

Here is what I have learned after decades of leading in the Army and now working with executives and business owners across every industry.

The leaders who struggle most are not the ones who lack strategy.
They are the ones who have been leading everyone else so long that they have completely lost themselves in the process.

You are not burnt out because you are lazy.

You are burnt out because you have been trying to do everything for everyone with no structure, no boundaries, and zero time left for yourself.

Jenna Wahl came on Got Your Six and said something that stopped me cold.
She wakes up two hours before her son.

Devotional. Movement. Deep work.

All of it done before he opens his eyes. And by 10 am after swim. She is finished.

Not finished because she quit.
Finished because she planned.

Everything after that is a bonus. Time with her son. Extra work. Whatever she chooses.
Because she already won the morning.

That is not a productivity hack. That is self-leadership in action.

Most people are exhausted by 10 am because they have been reacting since the moment they woke up. Notifications. Demands. Everybody else's priorities stacked on top of their own.

We didn’t need another productivity hack.

We needed enough silence to hear our own thoughts.

Last weekend, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary in one of our very favorite places, New Orleans.

But this trip was different.

We made a conscious decision to shut down from the outside world. No constant emails and endless notifications.

We made a point to let those close to us know our plan so we didn't have any feeling of obligation to respond to everything immediately. Work was reserved only for absolute necessities.

What came out of those four days wasn’t just rest.

It was clarity.

The kind of clarity that only comes when the noise finally stops.

We talked about our businesses... they ways they can and should blend more... talked about our family... because that's what we do!!

We talked about where we’re headed in this next season of life.

What we realized is that neither of us needs to work more.

We need to build better together!!

Better systems.
Better processes.
Better ways to create impact without creating ourselves as the bottleneck.

The goal was never to build businesses that consumed our lives, was always to build businesses that support the life we want to live.

This is the part a lot of business owners miss... we start businesses to have time to have a dream that can become a reality... but y'all.. it doesn't have to consume you.

After more than 30 years together, our bond is stronger than ever. Yet somehow, this trip pulled us even closer. Not because we escaped reality, but because we created space to think about it differently.

We’re returning home clearer....bolder and more intentional.

Ready to streamline more work and honestly... simplify our lives for what's about to come!!

We are both ready to spend more time building a future that allows us to do more of life together.

As we step into this next chapter of marriage, family, business, and leadership, we’re excited for everything it holds.

Thirty + years has taught us many lessons.

One of the biggest?

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is step away long enough to remember why you’re building it all in the first place.

Here’s to the next season....building smarter... more adventures together and more than anything here’s to the next 30 years.

Leadership is not about how HIGH you climb. It’s about how GROUNDED you remain while you’re climbing.

Titles, accomplishments, and success can change the way people see you. They should never change the way you see yourself or the way you treat those around you.

The best leaders I’ve known could walk into a boardroom, a battlefield, or a break room and treat every person with the same level of respect.

They understood something important:
Being a leader does not make you better than anyone else, it makes you responsible for more than yourself.

Stay humble enough to listen.
Stay confident enough to decide.
Stay grounded enough to remember where you came from.

The moment a leader believes they are above the people they serve is often the moment they stop leading and start managing a title.

Stay grounded.
Stay teachable.
Stay human.

That’s where real leadership lives.
