💜 OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜

Throughout the month of October, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department proudly stands with survivors, families, advocates, and communities across the nation in recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Purple is the recognized color of domestic violence awareness—a symbol of courage, survival, remembrance, and hope. This month, we encourage our community to help raise awareness, support survivors, and remind those experiencing abuse that help is available and you are not alone.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, background, or circumstance. It may involve physical violence, but abuse can also include threats, intimidation, stalking, harassment, isolation, financial control, and other behaviors used to maintain power and control over another person.
