📝 A strong strategic plan should be more than aspirational, it should be usable.

After gathering insights, analyzing data, and building consensus, the final step is turning all of that work into a clear and actionable roadmap. The most effective strategic plans provide direction, define priorities, and create accountability for implementation.

At Transform Consulting Group, we help organizations develop strategic plans that are both visually engaging and practical for long-term use.

🧭 A strategic plan only works when people believe in it.

One of the biggest challenges organizations face during strategic planning is moving from ideas to alignment. Boards, leadership teams, staff, and partners often bring different perspectives, and that’s actually a strength when facilitated effectively.

At Transform Consulting Group, Step 3 of our process focuses on facilitating consensus so organizations can establish shared priorities, clear goals, and a unified direction forward.

✨ Creating alignment now helps organizations navigate change more effectively later.

📊 Good strategy is grounded in good data.

Organizations today are navigating changing community needs, funding shifts, workforce challenges, and increasing demand for measurable outcomes. That’s why assessment and analysis are critical parts of strategic planning, not optional steps.

At Transform Consulting Group, we help organizations analyze internal data, community trends, stakeholder feedback, and external research to identify opportunities and inform future direction.

🔍 Step 2 of our strategic planning process focuses on understanding both the organization and the landscape around it.

🤝 The best strategic plans don’t start with assumptions. They start with listening.

One of the most important parts of the planning process is identifying the right stakeholders and gathering meaningful input early. When organizations create space for collaboration from the beginning, they build stronger buy-in and uncover insights that often shape the direction of the entire plan.

At Transform Consulting Group, Step 1 of our strategic planning process focuses on collaboration and discovery so organizations can move forward with clarity and shared understanding.

👀 Did you catch this?

Last week, we shared a 2-part blog series tackling a big question many changemakers ask themselves:

👉 Should I start a nonprofit?

Spoiler alert: Passion alone isn’t always the answer.

In Part 1, we explore why the nonprofit sector may already be oversaturated and the important questions every founder should ask before launching a new organization.

In Part 2, we take a deeper look at the realities behind starting a nonprofit, including sustainability, impact, funding, and whether there are better ways to create change in your community.

If you’ve ever thought:
✔️ “There’s a need in my community.”
✔️ “Someone should do something about this.”
✔️ “Maybe I should start a nonprofit…”
…this series is for you.

📖 Read Part 2: “Wait! Read This Before Starting a Nonprofit”
https://www.transformconsultinggroup.com/evaluation/wait-read-this-before-starting-a-nonprofit/

The nonprofit sector has a saturation problem. For too long, we have equated 'starting a nonprofit' with 'making a difference,' but the math does not add up. Each year, approximately 100,000 new nonprofits are formed in the United States. When thousands of small entities vie for the same finite pool...

If your team reviews data… and the room goes silent, you’re not alone.

Too often, we spend hours collecting and reporting data, but stop short of actually using it.

Here’s the shift:
➡️ Don’t start with what’s wrong
➡️ Start with what’s working
➡️ Get curious
➡️ Invite multiple perspectives
➡️ Turn insights into action

Because data alone doesn’t drive change, conversation does.

Last month, TCG's President, Amanda Lopez, partnered with local leaders and funders in Fort Wayne, Indiana to present on how to build stronger, data-informed cultures at the Northeast Indiana Funders Collective.

Through this work, we explored how organizations can move beyond collecting data, and start using it to drive better decisions, strengthen programs, and increase impact.

What we shared:
👉 Data-informed cultures don’t happen by accident—they require intentional leadership and buy-in
👉 Staff at all levels need the tools and confidence to use data in their day-to-day work
👉 Consistent data conversations lead to better, more informed decisions
👉 Funders and community partners play a critical role in supporting this shift

We’re grateful to collaborate with partners who are committed to strengthening the nonprofit sector:
WindSwell Foundation
Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne
Don Wood Foundation
Foellinger Foundation
The James Foundation
Mary Cross Tippmann Foundation
St. Joseph Community Health Foundation

Together, we’re helping organizations turn data into action and build a culture of continuous learning.

💭 Still thinking about starting a nonprofit?

Before you take the next step… wait! Read this first.

In yesterday's blog, we asked the big question: Should you start a nonprofit?
Now in Part 2, we go deeper—because good intentions alone aren’t enough to sustain impact.

At Transform Consulting Group, we’ve seen firsthand that launching a nonprofit requires more than passion. It takes clarity, capacity, and a realistic plan for long-term success.

This blog walks through what too many people overlook:
👉 The hidden challenges behind starting and sustaining a nonprofit
👉 The importance of infrastructure, funding, and strategy
👉 Why pausing to evaluate your approach can actually strengthen your impact

🔗 Read Part 2:

Catch up on Part 1 if you missed it—and make the most informed decision for your mission.

You see a problem in your community, and you have a vision and passion for the solution. It’s an exciting spark! But often, that spark immediately leads to the thought that this need in the community should be met by forming a nonprofit organization.
