Small Business Majority network member and Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Grant winner Karla Yatckoske runs Uplifting Melodies Tutoring, a virtual education company. She offers private tutoring services and Workplace ESL, a program for employees who can benefit from support with their English skills. Receiving the $10,000 grant meant that Karla could shore up and scale her business, and gave her the breathing room she needed to re-assess her business model. Before the grant, she was doing private tutoring lessons, but with this cash infusion, she was able to expand her reach by taking on corporate clients. Not only was she able to obtain business insurance and necessary digital subscriptions, she also joined local chambers of commerce.
