A successful traffic control plan doesn't start when the cones go out — it starts weeks before, at the planning table.

For a recent major intersection project, our team reviewed traffic flow data, coordinated with the contractor and DOT, developed a phased closure plan, and conducted a full site walk before a single device was placed.

That level of preparation is what allows us to execute safely and efficiently — minimizing disruption while protecting the job site.

Traffic control is a profession. We treat it like one.

Before you hit the highway, here's a reminder from your friends at D2K Traffic:

✅ Expect construction delays — plan extra time
✅ Put the phone down — especially in work zones
✅ Follow the flagger — they're directing you for a reason
✅ Give trucks and equipment plenty of space

⚠️ SAFETY TIP: The posted speed in a work zone ISN'T a suggestion — it's calculated to give both drivers and workers the reaction time they need to stay safe.

At highway speeds, cutting through a work zone 10 mph over the speed limit can reduce stopping distance by more than 50 feet. That's the difference between a close call and a tragedy.

Work zones are full of people trying to do their jobs and make it home safely to their families. If you see orange equipment, flashing white or yellow lights, cones, signs, or workers on the roadside — SLOW DOWN.

Move over when you can. Put the phone down. Pay attention.

A few seconds of patience could save a life.

See work? Slow down.
See lights? Slow down.
