May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. Nearly everyone is touched by mental health in some way, whether personally, through family, friends, or colleagues. This month invites us to pause, check in with one another, and continue breaking the stigma around mental health at work and beyond.

If you’re wondering how you can help, even small actions matter. Start by having open, compassionate conversations, sharing credible resources, and practicing empathy in everyday interactions. Organizations like NAMI, Mental Health America, and SAMHSA also offer education, tools, and guidance for individuals and families.

For organizations, Mental Health Awareness Month is a great opportunity to assess how you support employee well‑being whether that’s promoting EAPs, offering mental health days, training leaders to recognize burnout, or fostering a culture where it’s safe to ask for help. Progress starts with awareness, but it’s sustained through action.

This past Sunday, several CARA team members had the opportunity to give back by volunteering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Oak Forest, an incredible organization dedicated to ensuring no child sleeps on the floor.

Our team spent the day sanding wood that will soon become ready-to-build bunk beds for children in need. It was inspiring to see such a strong community turnout and to do meaningful, hands-on work together on a beautiful day in support of a powerful mission.

Grateful to everyone who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and helped make a difference. 💙
