Here is a broken and disconnected dryer vent pipe in an attic in Mahtomedi, Mn. There are still huge clumps of lint in this thing after it was “cleaned” by a different company. It is on the schedule in the near future to be replaced.

The dryer vent pipe in this attic had some issues to say the least. It was “cleaned” by a different dryer vent company, but they never bothered telling the homeowner their dryer vent pipe needed some serious repairs.
1. The elbow was broken in half
2. The termination wasn’t connected, so it fell out of the roof
3. The insulation should’ve been completely wrapped in foil faced insulation.
4. The pipe should’ve been strapped and secured at least in one area. This pipe was just floating around up there.

The entire dryer vent pipe and rooftop cap is scheduled to be replaced in the near future. 👍🏻

This customer called and said their dryer smelled like burning. After taking the dryer completely apart and vacuuming up alllll of the lint, the dryer is now safe to use.
If your dryer ever smells like burning, stop using it immediately and call MN Dryer Vent for a full service cleaning of the appliance and the dryer vent.

On Friday, our Explorers and their advisors headed to the Minnesota State Fair to participate in the Governor’s Fire Prevention Day events. One of the events on this day is the annual Fire Explorer competition. This is comprised of young adults, ages 14-21 from fire departments throughout the region. The competition includes events that test their skills in ladder raising, search and rescue, gear donning, spinal immobilization, CPR & AED, a combat challenge relay, a written test and a public education presentation. This was the first competition this group of Explorers had competed in. They took 5th place out of 12 teams. Please join us in congratualting them!

Today, I encountered a dirty dryer vent with zero airflow. It seemed strange, so I checked the connection inside of the dryer. Just as I thought! It was loose and no longer connected. Taping the vent pipe on inside the dryer is not necessary, so I removed the tape and found that the pipe itself was damaged and unable to fit onto the dryer properly.
An appliance repair company was contacted to replace the vent pipe.
Now the dryer vent pipe is clean and ready to go once the pipe inside the dryer is replaced.
