Not sure whether home care or assisted living is the right next step for your family? You are not alone, and there is no single right answer.

This week on the blog, we walked through how the two compare: cost, independence, safety, and the kinds of questions that can help your family figure out what fits best.

If you are in the early stages of this decision, this is worth a read.

When a loved one enters hospice, the medical team does extraordinary work. But their visits are scheduled and time-limited.

The hours in between still fall to the family.

That's where we come in. Symphony caregivers work alongside hospice to provide the daily, hands-on support that makes staying home possible. Personal care, meals, companionship, and real relief for family members who are already carrying so much.

One family described their experience this way after losing their aunt:

"Angie and her team were my aunt's angels in her final days. They received the highest compliment from her Hospice Nurse: 'I was so impressed by the quality of care by Symphony Senior Home Care staff. I will be recommending them to others.' They went above and beyond to provide compassionate care, even staying with my aunt after passing until family members could arrive so she would not be alone."

If your family is navigating hospice and you are not sure what additional support looks like, we wrote about it this week on the blog. Link in the first comment.

This month, Symphony Senior Home Care is lacing up for a cause that is deeply personal to everyone on our team.

We are participating in the 2026 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, Twin Cities, MN on Saturday, September 19th. Alzheimer's disease affects more than 6 million Americans, and over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care every single day.

As a home care agency, we see the impact of this disease on families firsthand. Walking is one small way we can show up for the people we serve and the cause that matters so much to this community.

If you'd like to join our team or donate in support, the link is in the first comment.💜 Every dollar helps fund research, care, and support for families living with Alzheimer's. Today we start fundraising, and we look forward to being at the starting line on September 19th!

A lot of families tell me they spent weeks researching home care agencies online before they ever called anyone.

I get it. Inviting someone into your parent's home is a big decision. You want to know who you are actually dealing with before you pick up the phone.

So here is what I want you to know about us.

When you call Symphony, you talk to me or someone on my small team who actually knows our clients. You are not routed through a call center. Nobody is reading from a script. We ask questions, we listen, and we tell you honestly whether we think we can help.

No pressure. No sales pitch. Just a real conversation.

If you are trying to figure out next steps for a parent in the Twin Cities, that conversation is always free.

"I just wish she had the same person every time."

It sounds simple. But caregiver consistency is one of the most important things to ask about when you are choosing a home care agency, and one of the things that varies most between providers.

We wrote about it this week on the Symphony blog: why it matters for safety, why it matters for dignity, and what it means for seniors living with memory conditions.

If you are researching home care for a parent or loved one in the White Bear Lake area, this one is worth a read.

Before starting Symphony Senior Home Care, Angie Wold worked as a home health aide. She saw firsthand how much families trust caregivers and how much that trust matters.

That's why she bought the business.

This week on the blog, we shared Angie's story. Where her passion for caregiving began, why she chose this work, and what drives Symphony's approach every day.

If you've ever wondered what it actually looks like when the owner is personally invested in the care being delivered, it's worth a read.

Caring for older adults has always felt natural to me.

Growing up, my grandparents were everything. I watched how much it meant to them to be cared for with patience and respect. That never left me.

I started working in home care in 2007 and eventually had the opportunity to purchase Symphony in 2022. I said yes because this agency already believed what I believed: that every senior deserves to feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.

When you call Symphony, you're not reaching a call center. You're reaching a team that is personally invested in your family.

That's the difference.

If you're starting to look into options for a parent, we would love to talk. No pressure, just a real conversation.

Caring for someone you love can be one of the most meaningful things you do.

It can also be exhausting.

Many family caregivers spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that they forget to care for themselves, too.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, respite care can provide a few hours of support so you can rest, run errands, attend appointments, or simply take a breath.

Because sometimes the best way to care for someone else is to make sure you’re supported too.

We just shared a new blog explaining what respite care is and how it helps family caregivers across Minnesota. We linked the blog in the comments!

Caring for someone you love can be incredibly meaningful.

It can also be exhausting in ways people do not always talk about.

Many family caregivers spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that they forget to care for themselves too.

Respite care is designed to help families breathe a little. Whether that means running errands, resting, attending appointments, or simply taking a break without worrying.

Support is not just for seniors. Caregivers need support too.

We put together a new guide explaining what respite care is and how it can help families across Minnesota. You can find it on our website linked in bio!
