🚨 Side income? Self-employed? Don't skip this one.

Your Q4 estimated tax payment is due January 15, 2027 — your final estimated payment for 2026. Skipping it can mean penalties and a surprise bill when you file.

If no employer is withholding taxes on that income, the IRS expects you to pay as you go. Put January 15 on your calendar now, and if you're not sure what you owe, don't guess.

Don't take a holiday cash advance — it costs you twice. 💳🚫

Got an investment that's down this year? Don't let that loss go to waste — it can actually lower your tax bill if you use it before Dec 31.

Sell the losing investment and the loss can offset your capital gains, plus up to $3,000 of other income, with any extra carrying forward to future years.

One trap: the wash-sale rule. If you buy the same investment back within 30 days, the IRS disallows the loss — so wait it out.
