We Make Data Simple 📊✨

At Old Town ABA, we believe data should support progress—not create more paperwork.

Our Therapeutic Consultation model focuses on simple, meaningful data collection that caregivers and support teams can actually use.

✅ Easy-to-understand tracking systems
✅ Frequency and yes/no data options
✅ Clear trends that guide decision-making
✅ Less time documenting, more time supporting individuals

When data is simple, teams are more consistent, progress is easier to measure, and everyone stays focused on what matters most: improving quality of life.

Collaboration is one of the most powerful tools we have in supporting individuals with behavioral challenges.

Recently, a provider reached out to our team seeking additional behavioral support resources for an individual whose needs extended beyond traditional counseling services. These conversations are a reminder that meaningful progress often requires a multidisciplinary approach.

At Old Town ABA, we partner with psychologists, therapists, support coordinators, caregivers, residential providers, and other professionals to create practical, individualized behavior support solutions.

When providers work together, individuals receive the comprehensive support they deserve.

The strength you overlook, others admire.

The resilience you call “just getting through the day,” others see as extraordinary.

The impact you make is often greater than you realize.

Give yourself the same grace and recognition you so freely give to others. 🤍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every 5-star review tells a story.

At Old Town ABA, we recognize that families and support teams have choices when seeking behavioral consultation services. The trust placed in us is something we never take for granted. That’s why we are incredibly honored that our services continue to be consistently rated 5 stars across rating platforms.

To those who have taken the time to share your experiences with us—thank you.

Your feedback reflects more than satisfaction with a service. It reflects the relationships we’ve built, the goals we’ve achieved together, and the commitment our team brings to every individual we support.

At Old Town ABA, our mission has always been to provide care that is:

✨ Compassionate – because every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, patience, and respect.

✨ Collaborative – because meaningful progress happens when families, caregivers, support coordinators, and providers work together.

✨ Effective – because recommendations should lead to practical, sustainable outcomes that improve quality of life.

✨ Individualized – because no two people are the same, and neither should their support plans be.

✨ Ethical – because doing the right thing should never be optional.

We are privileged to support individuals and families throughout Virginia through Therapeutic Consultation services under the DD Waiver, and we remain committed to delivering the same level of excellence that has earned your confidence and trust.

As we continue to grow, our promise remains unchanged: to lead with kindness, communicate openly, advocate fiercely, and provide behavior analytic services that truly make a difference.

To our families, caregivers, support coordinators, community partners, and dedicated consultants—thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.

Your trust inspires us to keep raising the standard of what behavioral consultation can look like.

Here’s to continuing to serve our communities with heart, integrity, and excellence. 💙

Thank you for recognizing Old Town ABA as a provider of top-tier, caring, and effective services. We are deeply grateful for every referral, every collaboration, and every 5-star review.

At Old Town ABA, these 7 values are not aspirational—they are operational. They guide how we make decisions, how we support clients, and how we show up for families and one another every single day.

Leadership in ABA isn’t just about programs—it’s about consistency, honesty, and commitment when the work gets complex. These principles are the foundation of how Rachel, the CEO of Old Town ABA leads, how we practice, and how we grow.

If we’re going to serve clients well, we have to stay grounded in what doesn’t change: integrity, truth, persistence, kindness, collaboration, long-term thinking, and clinical excellence.

7 values. One standard. Every day.

Progress doesn’t always come in giant leaps. Sometimes it’s using a new coping skill, following a routine with less support, communicating a need, or navigating a challenging situation successfully.

With Therapeutic Behavior Consultation, we know that these small victories are the building blocks of meaningful, lasting change. Every step forward—no matter how small—helps create a stronger foundation for future success.

→ Celebrate the progress.
→ Recognize the effort.
→ Trust the process.

Because today’s small victories can lead to brighter futures tomorrow. 🫶🏼

“Your Interventions Aren’t Working…”

Before changing the intervention, ask yourself:

❓ Is the plan being implemented consistently?
❓ Is everyone responding the same way?
❓ Are expectations clear and realistic?
❓ Is there consistent follow-through across caregivers, staff, teachers, and support team members?

One of the most common reasons interventions fail is not because the strategy is ineffective—it’s because the strategy isn’t being implemented consistently over time.

Meaningful behavior change requires consistency, predictability, and follow-through. When responses vary from person to person or from day to day, individuals receive mixed messages about expectations, making it difficult for new skills and behaviors to develop.

Therapeutic Behavior Consultation helps teams create practical, sustainable support plans that can be implemented consistently across environments. We work alongside caregivers and support teams to ensure everyone understands the plan, feels confident implementing it, and can maintain follow-through even when situations become challenging.

Success often isn’t about finding a new intervention. It’s about ensuring the current intervention is being used consistently enough to produce meaningful results.

Consistency builds trust.
Follow-through builds learning.
Together, they create lasting change.

🌞 Hello, June! 🌞

A new month brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make meaningful connections. As summer begins, it’s the perfect time to embrace new experiences, build skills, and create opportunities for success in everyday moments.

Whether you’re working toward personal goals, supporting a loved one, or helping someone gain greater independence, remember that progress is made one step at a time. Every conversation, every challenge, and every achievement matters.

At Old Town ABA, we believe growth doesn’t stop when school ends. Summer offers countless opportunities to practice communication, social skills, problem-solving, and independence in natural, meaningful ways.

Welcome, June! Here’s to sunshine, growth, learning, and making the most of every opportunity. 🌻🌳

Assistive technology can create more independence, safety, communication, and confidence for individuals with developmental disabilities. 💙

From AAC devices and visual schedules to smart home supports and medication reminders, the right tools can make everyday life more accessible and empowering.

If you’re applying through the Developmental Disability Waiver, don’t overlook assistive technology requests that support daily living, communication, mobility, and community inclusion.

Every person deserves supports that help them thrive. ✨

Organizations in Virginia that help evaluate or identify assistive technology include:

• Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS)
• Virginia Easy Access Assistive Technology Resources

If you are trying to prepare waiver requests, examples of wording people commonly use include:

“Needs visual prompting technology to complete activities of daily living independently.”

“Requires medication management technology for health and safety.”

“Needs AAC device to communicate wants, needs, and medical concerns.”

“Requires environmental controls to safely access home environment.”

“Needs sensory regulation technology to prevent behavioral escalation.”

For waiver approval, requests usually need:

• A documented disability-related need
• A recommendation from a professional (OT, SLP, behavioral specialist, etc.)
• Evidence the device increases independence, safety, communication, or community access
• Confirmation that it is not otherwise covered by Medicaid, school, or insurance
