Check out this sweet picture from this past weekend’s Liberty performance at the Break the Ice event in Nocona Texas! Huge thanks to my friends for letting me steal their pony. And thanks to Wasabi for being so fun to play with.
It’s not easy pulling out a freestyle with 1 practice with the horse you’re using 😂🤣

This was such an awesome concept for a clinic and I am so pumped I got to be a part of it! It was an EPIC weekend!!

Let me tell you the story behind our Break the Ice Event🧊 that wrapped up yesterday afternoon.

First things first— to the team of people who surround us, THANK YOU 🙏🏻

Carolyn, Lynn, Avery— you guys worked so hard on the ranch like it was your own in getting ready for this weekend, and the event couldn’t have happened like it did without you. From preparing the facilities, the lunches, and the vibe of the event; I am grateful. Parker, thank you for helping us during the event this weekend!

Elliot with Versatile Horsemanship and Melissa with the Southwest Liberty Horse Club ILHA— the way that you both take the ideas that come out of my head, get them organized, and then expand on them to make them even better… and make them REAL is incredible. Lynn, your encouragement of our said ideas is on point.

Allison with Whisler Equine Services— my friend, thank you for coming to Texas and jumping in on so many of these wild ideas! I love that we are the same student 😂 and I am looking forward to collaborating with you on many more events.

Shaina with Heart W Media — thank you for spending another weekend photographing another event here, we appreciate you so much!

Vickie— you are still the number one show mom in our lives, you keep us moving and fed when we forget to feed ourselves. Thank you for always being in our corner.

April— you came out and gave up your weekend to be here as a volunteer. Thank you for jumping into this mad team of ours! 🤣

Participants and friends both old and new— THANK YOU ALL for taking a chance on coming out this weekend and for having the courage to put yourselves out there to TRY! I am proud of you all, I am grateful for you all, and I look forward to more events with you all! Way to rip off the bandaid and give it all a try!

So. Why hold a multi-discipline/equine sport event made up of clinics, a freestyle night show, a sanctioned International Liberty Horse Association show, AND a low-key schooling show in collaboration with other professionals and clubs?

1. Horses and horsemanship should be FUN. I wanted this event to be an entire experience, not just one more show or one more clinic on a list of a gagillion others. I wanted to us to learn together, laugh together, challenge one another, share meals together, and have FUN with horses again. That’s community.

2. To bring together people of various disciplines and backgrounds and share other disciplines with them. I wanted our Dressage riders to see what our Liberty people are doing. I wanted our Liberty people to see what our Reiner and Dressage friends are up to. I wanted our Ranch Versatility friends to check out the Working Equitation, etc. All of us as horsemen, and our horses, can all grow and learn something from those doing something different. I feel like Working Equitation, Ranch Versatility, and Liberty are incredibly inclusive disciplines that complement one another, that you can have ANY horse to get started in.

We’re all in this industry together, and finding a respect and basic understanding of other disciplines and equine sports builds strength in our horse industry to help it continue on. We’re all in this together, so we have to learn stand together.

3. To give riders a chance to try something new, a sport they might have been curious about, one they never thought they could do, in a low-key and non-stressful environment to give them the courage to leave here and go to a clinic with a big time rider in that sport, to leave here and go compete at a show in a discipline that they tried here. I wanted riders and horse folks to gain education, because knowledge is courage, take what they learned and use that courage to make their goals happen. 💪🏻

For the first time since we’ve been at our facility here in Nocona, we SOLD OUT of stalls, corrals, and RV spots. Read that again. Sold out.

Looking around and seeing everyone smiling and hearing all the laughter from people made taking the risk on holding this event so worth it.

Thank you Lord for good horses, great people, and for this path that you’ve set us on and the folks you have surrounded us with. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

We’re off to a great start at the Break the Ice event at Versatile Horsemanship! What an awesome idea for a clinic! Participants come and rotate through 4 different disciplines. Dressage, ranch riding, WE obstacles, and liberty! Then tomorrow we’ll do a mini schooling show to let people get a taste of it all! And we’ll wrap it up Sunday with an ILHA in person show that the Southwest Liberty Horse Club ILHA is holding. I’m super pumped to be a part of this fun weekend!

Entries are OPEN for our June 27th IDS approved dressage show Alliance Equestrian Center! We have classical and western dressage classes, eventing tests and working equitation tests! Something for everyone!

If there is interest, I can set up a WE course Sunday that people can stay over and play on. Let me know if this is of any interest. It’s a lot of work to set up for just 1 person, but if a few people are interested in a WE obstacle playday Sunday, we can make that happen!

Lesson parents, I’ll reach out soon about registering. Because we weren’t able to go to the May IDS in Edinburgh, priority will go to our away show riders so they can get scores the need for the IDS show seasons. Once I have their rides down, if anybody else is interested, we can get you in!

It’s hard to believe this school year is at an end! Alliance parents-if your kid is a junior or senior, some schools allow them to intern at the barn! If you have a horse loving kiddo that wants to do an internship, we would LOVE to have them out! Check with your school for next year!
