A friend suggested doing these monthly ‘recaps’ because they make great loopbacks for the whole year later and then she pulls them into a printed book. Good idea! Wow! In 30 days so much can happen from back-to-back state fairs, Cary’s honor of the Circle of Corydon, to our first major event together of Rural Land Use and Siting Council where we honored Indiana’s Inaugural Champions of Rural Land and Communities, to fun times with friends from polo to weddings. It’s been a good one August.

What an honor to be included in this inaugural class of Leadership Award winners from the Women in Agribusiness! I’m a huge fan of the work the crew at the Women in Agribusiness team does and I have attended multiple conferences. Their national and international reach, the size and scope of the events, and the caliber attendees is unmatched. I’m looking forward to joining this year once again and celebrating with this powerful network. Thank you!

Today Cary was presented the Circle of Corydon, issued by Gov. Mike Braun and nominated by Indiana Representative Beau Baird. What a special honor this is for him to be acknowledged for his excellence in public service to our state and it was particularly nice to have the presentation during the opening day of the Indiana State Fair.

The Circle of Corydon was created during Gov. Eric Holcomb’s administration to recognize Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions that better Indiana. Its name honors Corydon, Indiana’s first state capital and the place where delegates drafted Indiana’s first state constitution in 1816.

The Circle of Corydon is unique in that it is jointly issued by the executive and legislative branches. The recognition is signed by both the governor and the state legislator making the nomination. It is given to individuals whose service, leadership, or accomplishments reflect the civic qualities associated with Indiana’s founders.

Cary and I decided to do something extra special to acknowledge our 25th wedding anniversary yesterday, July 7. We renewed our vows with Pastor Mike Woods at the Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel in my favorite city of Charleston, SC. Set below a beautiful Tiffany stain glass window, we reaffirmed our commitment and faithfulness as Pastor shared a wonderful message just to us. We had such a fun and special time and even decided to opt for some new photos! I love you, Cary! Cheers to the next 25 and more.
