🌸 Stanford in Bloom 2026 is almost here! 🌿

We’re looking forward to seeing Stanford come alive with colour, creativity and the beauty of spring as Stanford in Bloom takes place from 12–27 September 2026.

It’s wonderful to see so many people, brands and businesses coming together to celebrate this beautiful Overberg village — and we’re delighted to be playing a small part in bringing the event to life with some of our plants. 🌱

We can’t wait to see them take their place amongst the blooms and beautiful displays throughout the festival!

🌸 Meet the showstoppers of the summer garden: Dahlias!

Bursting with vibrant colour from late spring through summer, these rewarding plants offer an incredible variety of flower shapes, sizes and colour combinations. From compact ‘Fresco’ and playful ‘Harlequin’ to colourful ‘Dalaya’ and striking ‘Summer Bees’, there’s a dahlia for every sunny garden.

Even better? They’re wonderfully easy to grow! 🌱

Dahlias thrive in full sun, fertile, well-draining soil and temperatures between 18°C and 25°C. Water regularly and, once established, feed with a high-potassium fertiliser every two weeks to keep those fabulous flowers coming.

Plant them in garden beds, borders or containers, remove faded flowers regularly, and enjoy a spectacular display of summer colour all season long. 🌸☀️

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at how our Berea grass gets started — trays are filled with coir, planting spaces are made, and our handy seed dispenser delivers just the right amount of seed into each cavity.

A little more coir, a good watering, and then we wait for the magic to happen. 🌱💚

What a day at the Cape Green Trade Day! 🌿

We are incredibly proud to share that Shadowlands has been awarded GOLD, taking home the Christine Faulhammer Trophy for the Most Creative Stand! 🥇🏆

Our theme, Rooted in Africa, came to life through plants, creativity and a whole lot of passion — and we are so thrilled that our stand stood out among so many incredible exhibitors.

A huge thank you to the entire Shadowlands team who brought the vision to life. 🌍🌱 Your hard work, creativity and attention to detail made this possible.

Taryn and management are sooooo proud of everyone who put their time, energy and passion into making this stand something truly special. From the setup and building of the stand, through every little detail on the day, to the takedown afterwards — so many people played a part in bringing this vision to life.
You went above and beyond, and this achievement belongs to the whole Shadowlands team. ❤️

From storage to the mixing area 🌱

Our coir blocks are being unloaded and moved into the mixing area, ready for the next stage of processing.

Once processed, the coir becomes an important component of the potting mix used to fill the pots for our plants at Shadowlands. 🌿

It all starts with the groundwork behind the scenes. 💪

⚽ Friday Friendlies | Getting ready for October! ⚽

The road to the SALI Soccer Match in October has begun! 🙌

Shadowlands, Trees SA and Atlantic Fertilisers joined forces for a Friday friendly as we get some practice in, build team spirit and, of course, have a bit of fun along the way! 🌱⚽

With many companies coming together for the big match in October, these friendly games are the perfect opportunity to get the teams warmed up and ready for some friendly competition.

A little football, a lot of laughs and plenty of team spirit! 💪⚽
