Philippi Village

Philippi Village Philippi Village is a business and community hub located in Philippi, Cape Town. Fun, sports, arts, education and recreation too. Then there is our Film Space.

We house local businesses, nurture entrepreneurs, develop skills and support job creation. Philippi Village is an old cement factory that has been converted into a business and community hub located in one of Cape Town’s most neglected townships, Philippi. We are a space that houses local township businesses, nurtures entrepreneurs, skills development centres and supports job creation. We are also

a space for fun, sports, arts, education and recreation activities for local residents

On our ground floor we have: A Coffee Shop space, meeting area, kids gaming space and the City of Cape Town’s main Crossroads Library. At the very front of our yard you will further find a Container walk with 110 shipping containers that have been repurposed into offices; workspaces and storage. We also have workspace hubs that can be taken up by 70+ businesses for rental. These spaces are ideal for offices, workshops, and conferences. Box office hits have been filmed here at Philippi Village. Think Maze Runner and Resident Evil. Talk to us about our various filming site packages. We further have a conference room that can take up to 120 people, boardrooms (8-16 people each) and a beautiful Amphitheatre for live music, performances and variety of events.

Today, we remember the courage of the young people of 1976 who stood up and demanded a better future.

Their legacy lives on in the youth of Philippi. Young people who continue to dream, create, learn, lead, and persevere despite the challenges they face. Every day, we witness young entrepreneurs, artists, students, and community leaders working to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

This Youth Day, we celebrate the resilience, determination, and potential of the youth of Philippi. Your stories matter. Your voices matter. Your future matters.

Happy Youth Day, South Africa. 🇿🇦

As we continue to celebrate Youth Month, we are proud to highlight an inspiring Career Expo hosted by our long-standing tenant, Crossroads Library, for high school learners from across Philippi.

The event brought together young people eager to explore career pathways, connect with opportunities, and gain valuable insights into their future possibilities. Filled with learning, inspiration, and meaningful conversations, the expo empowered learners to dream bigger and take confident steps toward their futures. At Philippi Village, we believe that investing in young people is investing in stronger communities.

Thank you to Crossroads Library and all partners who made this impactful event possible.

This Youth Month, we’re highlighting the impactful work of our third-floor tenant, UCT Graduate School of Business.

Through the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, young people aged between 18 and 35 who are not in employment or education, are supported to explore entrepreneurship within the health sector. The 6 month programme helps participants identify challenges in their communities and develop innovative ideas that can grow into sustainable businesses.

We’re proud to celebrate initiatives that empower young people to become problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders in their communities.

A day to remember 💚

The unveiling of the Powerpuff Girls Safe Space Bench at Philippi Village’s Daughter Thembi Garden brought together PV girls, BRAVE girls, staff, community members, and the Powerpuff Girls themselves in a powerful celebration of safety, joy, and togetherness.

The day was filled with music, flower planting, inspiring speakers from Philippi Village and , and moments of connection all leading up to the special reveal of the bench.

More than public art, this bench stands as a symbol of care, courage, and collective responsibility to create safe spaces for girls and young women.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their voices, and helped bring this vision to life.

✨ Together, we build spaces where girls can feel seen, heard, and safe.

“I am safe because you are safe.”

A powerful reminder shared during the unveiling of the Powerpuff Girls Safe Space Bench at Philippi Village’s Daughter Thembi Garden.

This message captures the heart of what a safe space truly is a shared commitment to protecting, uplifting, and standing with one another. The bench, created in partnership with , girl-led non-profit , and Philippi Village, celebrates girl power, community, and the collective courage to reimagine safety in our neighbourhoods.

“What does a safe space mean to me?”

A question we asked to the inspiring Ncebakazi Maza and one that echoes deeply through our community.

On the 25th November we celebrated girl power, creativity, and collective action with the unveiling of the Powerpuff Girls Safe Space Bench at our Daughter Thembi Garden.

This bold public artwork is more than a bench, it’s a symbol of courage, connection, and the strength of young girls and women in Philippi and beyond.

Created through a powerful partnership between , and Philippi Village, the bench reflects what we stand for: a safe, vibrant, and supportive community where young people can imagine, grow, and thrive.

Together, we are co-creating spaces where every girl feels seen, heard, and empowered.
