What will you leave behind?

When we think about legacy, we often think about the good things: our stories, our values, our traditions and the memories we create with the people we love.

But there can be another kind of legacy too.

The cupboards we never got around to sorting. The paperwork we left in piles. The belongings we kept meaning to make decisions about.

These delayed decisions don’t disappear. Eventually, someone else may have to make them for us.

Not a hoarder. Not a minimalist. Just… busy.

Sometimes it isn’t the amount of stuff in your home that’s the problem. It’s all the decisions you haven’t had the time, energy or headspace to make.

There are people who change lives loudly, and then there are those who do it quietly.

Dolly Parton is one of those people for me. Beyond the music, I admire the way she has used her success to give, uplift and create opportunities for others. She came from very little, yet chose generosity.

Then there’s Optimus Prime. We knew the voice, the presence and the character, but most of us never knew the man behind the voice. He became part of our childhoods without ever needing to be recognised on the street.

It got me thinking about the kind of legacy I value most.

Not necessarily being the loudest. Not needing to be seen. Just faithfully doing what you love, helping where you can, and leaving people a little better than you found them.

Perhaps the greatest impact isn't always the most visible one.

Who are the quiet changemakers who have left a lasting mark on your life?

Some of the women who shaped who I am today never called themselves professional organisers. But they taught me many of the values that I bring into my work every day.

Granny Mary taught me the value of consistency. Of being steadfast in who you are and what you believe.

Granny Dorren taught me generosity and, just as importantly, the value of listening. She also gave me the seed money to start my business, something I will always be grateful for.

Mom has always been my constant support and biggest cheerleader. As a single mum and entrepreneur, she taught me how to budget, plan and keep going.

My sister is a pillar of strength and wisdom. She is always willing to listen to my ideas and offer sound business advice.

I carry a little piece of each of these women into the work I do today. Their lessons have shaped not only the professional organiser I have become, but the person I am.

Happy Women’s Day to the women who keep showing up, starting again, and making space for what truly matters.

Today, we celebrate the women we’ve had the privilege of helping this year. Women navigating change, clearing clutter, downsizing, rebuilding routines, managing life’s transitions and simply trying to make things feel a little more manageable.

Every home we organise holds a story. And behind every space is a woman doing her best to create a life that works for her.

Here’s to women supporting women, making room for new chapters and remembering that you don’t have to do it all alone.

67 minutes every month can change a life.

At Realign, giving back isn't something we save for Mandela Day. It's woven into what we do.

One of our long-standing clients is in her 90s. Every month, we help her navigate emails, WhatsApp, online forms and the ever-changing world of technology. What may seem simple to some can feel overwhelming to others, and being able to bring calm, confidence and connection is a privilege we never take for granted.

This is just one of our Docs in a Row moments: supporting someone not just with admin, but with independence and dignity.

Because organisation is about so much more than paperwork. It's about making life feel lighter.
