"I was looking for something that would challenge my mind.

Then I heard about IT. 💡

The first thing that went through my head was an ATM - programming a machine to communicate with humans and telling it what to do. I get to be the commander. That was enough to get me sold into IT.

I went for programming, which exposed me to analysis. I've always been told I seem to extract different perspectives from one sentence. I fell in love. The perpetual innovation still amazes me.

Then I was exposed to IT Asset Disposition - the ultimate "surgery" where devices functionality span can be elongated.

At ITAD Africa, we're not just managing the technological device lifecycle, we're helping protect our environment through secure, responsible disposal of IT assets, and helping our clients stay compliant through disposal reports and certifications.

Empowered women empower women:
The Zulu proverb "Intandane enhle umakhothwa unina" reminds us that a mother figure shapes a child and empowering a girl child moves the entire family, community and nation.

As women we are more than capable. ❤️

We belong in every space where innovation happens. Bring your creativity, your jolly self, Miss or Mrs Serious. There is a field for you in IT."

"I was drawn to IT because I enjoy solving problems and learning new things. It was challenging at first, but it has been more rewarding than I expected.

A common stereotype is that IT is only for men. I've learned that skills, dedication and passion matter more than gender.

Knowing that my work makes a difference and helps others keeps me motivated, even during difficult times.

Empowered Women Empower Nations, means that when women are given opportunities to grow and lead, they inspire positive change in their communities and the country.

For the young women, believe in yourself and give IT a chance. If you are willing to learn and work hard, there is a place for you in this field."

"I got into IT through an opportunity in New Business Development, and what started as a job opportunity turned into something I really enjoy.

I didn’t have the typical technical background, but that made the journey even more interesting. IT is always changing, so there’s always something new to learn and I love that!

"So… you can fix my computer?"

People often think you have to code, build computers or know everything about technology to work in IT. The truth is, IT is for all kinds of people. There’s more to it than just being technical!

The people, the relationships and the learning. No two days are the same, and there’s always a new challenge to keep things interesting. And on the really hard days… coffee helps! ☕

"Empowered Women Empower Nations" to me means women lifting women up. ❤️

When we support each other, share opportunities and say “You’ve got this!”, we all grow together. There’s room for all of us at the table.

To the young women I say give it a chance! 😊 You don’t have to know everything. Just be curious, keep learning and don’t be afraid to try.

You might surprise yourself! ❤️"

“I got into IT for the passion I have for it, which is driven by the curiosity of knowing all the software that’s integrated into our daily lives.

I believe IT is a never-ending cycle of learning new things.

Most people, when you tell them that you do IT, automatically think you can hack or perhaps build computing devices from scratch.

I don’t think in any world I would have continued with IT if I didn’t love it. There are so many things that you learn through playing around with software that you wouldn’t necessarily learn through a book. Curiosity and the challenge IT gives me is sort of like a dopamine shot. Just exciting! That’s what keeps me going!

Empowered women, empower women:
This theme reminds us that investing in women’s rights accelerates development and builds sustainable societies. More personally, it means that when women are given a chance, we don’t just show up to fill a space, we show up to make that space better.

IT is not as difficult as some might make it out to be. Give yourself the chance to find out what you can and cannot do and trust me, you can do IT.”

"So... you code?" 🤔

That's the usual reaction Tilana Botha, our Operations Manager, gets when she tells people she works in IT.

Her path didn't start with a computer science degree. It started with a question: what happens to a laptop once a company is done with it?

That question led her into IT Asset Disposition, and the environmental side of the work, like chain of custody, Certified Data Destruction and e-waste diverted from landfills, is what's kept her hooked ever since.

You don't have to fit a certain stereotype to belong in IT. You just have to look for where you can fit in.

Not every retired device needs to be destroyed.

Certified data erasure can render data unrecoverable while keeping suitable hardware intact for resale, refurbishment or reuse, using sanitisation methods aligned with NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2.

A reputable ITAD partner should give you options, not send every retired device straight to destruction.

Fewer devices destroyed. ✅
More value recovered. ✅
Less e-waste created. ✅

Before destruction becomes the default, ask your ITAD service provider whether secure data erasure and reuse are viable options for your equipment.

Cape Town businesses can drop equipment at our Brackengate depot, or call +27 (0) 87 135 4344 to arrange an on-site collection with an account manager.

The same nationwide service is available through our Centurion and KZN depots.

One unaccounted for laptop = One compliance headache 🚫

Under POPIA, an organisation is responsible for every device that might still hold personal data, whether it's in a storeroom or long forgotten.

A reputable ITAD partner runs a full independent audit and reconciliation before anything gets disposed of. Cape Town businesses can drop equipment at our Brackengate depot, or call +27 (0) 87 135 4344 to have an account manager collect it on site instead. The same applies nationwide, through Centurion and KZN.

Our Cape Town depot has this covered on-site at Unit 10, Casadobe Park 2, 36 London Circle, Brackengate Business Park. Alternatively call +27 (0) 87 135 4344 to arrange an account manager visit your site.
