One of music's biggest icons, Freddie Mercury, would have been 80 years old tomorrow. But did you know he was a budding philatelist in his youth?

One of the most unique items in our museum collection just so happens to be his childhood stamp album, made during his childhood growing up in Zanzibar. Freddie's father was an avid collector himself and passed on his love of stamps his son.

The album was purchased at auction by the museum's predecessor in 1993, with proceeds from the sale donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Learn more by clicking the link below, which also includes the full digitisation of the album to view at your leisure.
