And then there’s the real version, the “not-so-instagramable” version.

The second-guessing. The big conversations in the car. The “are we actually doing this?” moments. The pressure to keep everyone else moving while quietly figuring things out yourself. The late nights. The pivots. The uncomfortable decisions. And the constant reminder that being the boss doesn’t mean you always know what you’re doing.

We built My Virtual Rep because we believe businesses need more than someone to do the work.

They need people who can look at the bigger picture. Ask the uncomfortable questions. Spot what’s being missed. And sometimes just say, “Right. Let’s figure this out.”

I have a feeling you need to read this today...

For years, we’ve been taught to measure business performance through numbers.

Revenue. Profit. Sales. Conversion. Productivity.
Customer retention.

And those numbers still matter.

But something is changing...

We are entering a business environment where technology can increasingly automate the work, analyse the data, produce the content, track the activity and optimise the process.

So the question is changing from:

“What did the business produce?”

to:

“What kind of people are producing it?”

Because a spreadsheet can tell you that sales are down.

It can't always tell you that your sales team has stopped believing in the strategy.

A dashboard can show declining productivity.

It can't tell you that your people are exhausted because priorities change every week.

A CRM can tell you how many leads were contacted.

It can't tell you whether your team is building relationships or simply ticking boxes.

And a monthly financial report can tell you what happened.

It can't tell you whether your people still believe in where the business is going.

This is why we believe PEOPLE are becoming the new KPIs.

Not because the numbers no longer matter.

Because the numbers are becoming the result of something deeper.

Are your people:
➡️ Inspired by the vision?
➡️ Informed about what is happening?
➡️ Interested in the growth of the business?
➡️ Involved enough to take ownership?
➡️ Integrated into the culture?
➡️ Improving through learning, feedback and development?

These aren't soft measurements.
They are business measurements!

When people understand the direction, believe they have a role in it and take ownership of the outcome, you start seeing it in the numbers.

And when they don't, you'll eventually see that in the numbers too...

The future of business performance won't be about choosing between people and KPIs.

It will be about understanding that your people are what move your KPIs.

Perhaps we've spent too much time measuring the scoreboard...

And not enough time understanding the players.

You don’t have a hard-work problem.
You have a clarity problem.

Because when you’re unclear on where the business is going, even the hardest-working team can spend their days doing the wrong things.

More meetings.
More tasks.
More content.
More firefighting.
More “busy”.

But not necessarily more growth.

Real business growth starts with three things:
Clarity → Strategy → Systems.

Clarity tells you what actually matters.
Strategy tells you what to do about it.
Systems make sure it happens consistently, without everything depending on you.

And this is where so many business owners get stuck.
They keep adding more.
When what they actually need is to step back, get clear, make better decisions and build the business underneath the work.

Before you quit... read this.

There comes a point in every business where you wonder if it's worth it.

The numbers aren't moving fast enough...

The pressure keeps building...

You're making decisions with incomplete information and hoping you're getting more right than wrong...

Most people never see those moments, but entrepreneurs feel them!

If you're in that season right now, don't make permanent decisions based on temporary frustration.

Ask yourself: "Is my business struggling because I'm out of energy... or because I'm out of strategy?"

Keep going.
But make sure you're heading in the right direction.
