When it comes to AI, most leaders are asking the wrong first question.

They’re asking:
“Which tool should we use?”

They should be asking:
“What are we not willing to risk?”

Because AI doesn’t just touch data. It touches trust.

Trust from your clients when their information runs through your systems. Trust from your team when they wonder if a model is making calls about their work. Trust from regulators and the public when something goes wrong and they want to know who was accountable.

In South Africa, we’re moving toward a risk-based approach to AI - no one-size-fits-all Act, but a clear expectation:
👉🏻If you use AI, you are responsible for how it behaves.
👉🏻POPIA still applies.
👉🏻Existing laws still apply.
👉🏻And high‑risk use cases will need stronger controls, documentation, and human oversight.

That’s why at My Virtual Rep, we don’t treat “AI risks and governance” as a legal appendix. We build it into the way you design and run AI from day one:

1️⃣Clear lines: Who is accountable for each AI use case, not just who installed the tool.
