Sable antelopes are striking African bovids known for their glossy black coats (males), dramatic backward-curving horns, and intense aggression toward predators.

When threatened, sable antelopes do not flee immediately. Instead, they form a defensive circle or stand their ground, using their long, scimitar-shaped horns to fight off predators, including lions, leopards, and hyenas.
