Montagu Winery is situated at the beginning of the Little Karoo, about 200km from Cape Town on Route 62, in the beautiful town of Montagu. Montagu Muskadelboere Koöperasie (name changed in 1992 to present name) was founded on

17 March 1941 under the leadership of Mr DJ Burger Sr – chairman of 15 members. From 800t grapes and 15 members in 1942 the cellar grew to 13 000t grapes and 61 members in 2011. The cellar produces various cultivar red and white wines for the market, including our well known muscadel. The range consist of 3 white wines, 2 red wines, 2 sweet wines (red and white muscadel) and white grape juice. Wines are marketed locally, but can also be delivered to your doorstep. UNPLUGGED THIS SUNDAY! 🕯️🔋✨

Due to a planned town-wide power outage in Montagu, our tasting room will be closed this Sunday, 6 September 2026.

Now, we did look into firing up the generator for the day... but with diesel prices shooting up yet again this week, our generator decided it's also taking Sunday off! 😂💸⛽

Instead of running on fumes, our team will use the downtime to recharge our own batteries so we can come back fully energized and ready to pour your favourites.

❌ Sunday, 6 Sept: Closed (Unplugged & recharging)
✅ Monday, 7 Sept: Re-opening bright and early at 08:00!

Pop in on Friday or Saturday to stock up your w**e racks so you don't run out of fuel this weekend. See you on Monday! 👋🍇
