What has changed most significantly is the way people discover businesses. Social platforms have become 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 in their own right, while AI is increasingly being used to research businesses, compare options and answer questions that previously required several separate searches. In South Africa, this shift is already visible in the growing integration of AI into marketing and the movement towards 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲.

For a new business, this creates both an enormous opportunity and a serious responsibility. It is no longer enough to simply produce content or pay for advertising. Your business needs a 𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲. Bobotie pies take the well-loved flavors of traditional South African bobotie and package them into a convenient, flaky pastry form. Instead of serving the spiced minced meat with a baked egg custard topping, this version layers the fragrant filling between two sheets of store-bought puff pastry. The result is a golden, crisp exterior that contrasts neatly with the savory, mildly sweet, and warmly spiced interior. I mean, how are these not going to be absolutely delicious!

The Bobotie pies‘ filling typically features minced beef cooked with onions, curry powder, turmeric, and a medley of other spices, not to mention a healthy dollop of Mrs. Balls fruit chutney and/or dried raisins, even dried apricots for subtle sweetness. Traditionally you use white bread with a splash of milk and/or a binding element such as egg to help keep the mixture rich without becoming heavy. It’s then layered in a your baking dish, topped with an egg and milk mixture and garnished with dried bay leaves before being baked.

Overall, bobotie pies balance convenience with depth of flavour. They retain the defining characteristics of the original dish (yay!) while adapting it into a format that suits busy schedules and varied mealtime every Tastebud needs.

Attachment Is Learned. So Is Healing. The way we attach to others is shaped by our earliest relationships and experiences. Over time, we learn what closeness, safety, rejection and conflict mean, and those patterns can quietly follow us into our adult relationships.

Sometimes what feels like an “overreaction” is actually an old attachment pattern being activated.

I don’t believe in marketing a business before understanding the business.**

Before we talk about websites, Facebook, social media or AI, I want to know: What are you selling? Who are you serving? Where are you losing money, time or customers? What isn’t working? And what could work better?

**I evaluate. I realign. I improve. Then I market and position.**

Because there is very little value in driving more people towards a business that still has inefficient processes, unclear positioning or a poor customer experience.

Online marketing is no longer optional. Your competitors are online. Your customers are online. Conversations about products, services and businesses are happening online every day. If you're not part of that conversation, you have very little influence over it.

But being online isn't enough either.

Your website, social media and digital presence should clearly communicate **who you are, what problem you solve and why someone should choose you.** And as AI changes how people search, communicate and make decisions, businesses need to embrace technology without losing their authenticity.

That brings me back to something I believe strongly about business:
