Exciting progress for road freight in the Western Cape! 🚛

The Western Cape Government Mobility Department (WCMD) has launched a pilot of the Digital Toolkit, designed to help operators adopt best practices and prepare for voluntary RTMS certification.

After two years of development, the toolkit will provide:

* Policy and procedure templates
* Implementation checklists
* Digital access via mobile or desktop
* Alignment with the NaTIS system

At the demo on 24 March 2026, Corrine Gallant (Deputy Director, WCMD) highlighted the toolkit’s practical features and ease of use. JC Auditors (Oliver Naidoo and Kobie Hyman) attended alongside transport operators and key industry stakeholders.

The pilot should run from May 2026 to March 2027 and is free for Western Cape operators, with participant feedback helping refine the toolkit before full rollout. The JCA team looks forward to increased collaboration with the Western Cape road freight stakeholders as we collectively strive to promote safety, compliance, and sustainability in the road freight sector.

JC Auditors recently completed the ISO 3834 welding quality surveillance audit for GRW, confirming that the company continues to meet the rigorous international requirements governing welding quality in tanker manufacturing.
For equipment that transports fuels, chemicals and food products on public roads, the integrity of every weld is critical. ISO 3834 ensures that welding procedures, welder competence, material traceability and inspection controls are all managed to the highest engineering standards.
The audit was conducted by JCA ISO 3834 auditor Herman Potgieter, with technical review by Renier Mostert who verified that GRW Africa’s welding coordination, procedures, traceability systems and quality controls remain aligned with international best practice.
During the certificate handover visit at GRW Africa’s 40,000 m² Worcester manufacturing facility, the JCA team witnessed first-hand the scale of one of Africa’s most sophisticated tanker production plants — featuring automated welding systems, advanced fabrication technologies and digitally integrated production lines capable of producing up to 1,500 tankers annually.
