*ESAYIDI TVET COLLEGE HOSTS THE NATIONAL DHET TVET MONTH LAUNCH 2026*

On *13 August 2026*, Esayidi TVET College proudly hosted the *National Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) TVET Month Launch*, bringing together students, government, industry stakeholders and the broader TVET community in celebration of skills development and the opportunities offered by the TVET sector.

The event was attended by the *Honourable Mr Buti Manamela, Minister of Higher Education and Training*, who took time to engage with Esayidi students and entrepreneurs participating in the exhibition. Minister Manamela has consistently positioned TVET Colleges as critical pathways to occupational qualifications, employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship.

As part of the launch, the *Esayidi TVET College Entrepreneurship Hub, together with the Skills Department*, showcased the College's occupational skills programmes and some of the innovative businesses developed by our entrepreneurs. Through exhibitions and *live practical demonstrations*, students were able to see first-hand how technical and occupational skills can be transformed into viable businesses and sustainable livelihoods.

This connection between *skills and entrepreneurship* is central to the role of TVET Colleges. A technical skill does not only prepare a young person to seek employment โ€” it can equip them to *create employment*. Whether in bricklaying, sewing, welding, agriculture, technology or other trades, occupational skills can become the foundation upon which young people build enterprises, respond to community needs and participate meaningfully in the economy.

With approximately *500 students in attendance*, the launch also provided an important platform to encourage young people to consider *TVET Colleges as a first-choice post-school pathway* โ€” institutions where practical learning, occupational training, innovation and entrepreneurship come together to prepare students for the world of work and business.

*A special thank you to all our Esayidi entrepreneurs who participated in the exhibition and live demonstrations.* Thank you for sharing your businesses, skills and entrepreneurial journeys, and for taking the time to engage with and inspire the students who visited the exhibition. By demonstrating what is possible when skills meet opportunity, you became part of an important message to our young people: a skill can become a career, a business and ultimately a source of employment for others.

At Esayidi TVET College, we remain committed to developing skilled professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators.

Skills create opportunities. Entrepreneurship turns those opportunities into economic impact.

Business Model Canvas training

New client intakes sat for a 2-day training on the Business Model Canvas.The purpose of a Business Model Canvas is to provide a simple, visual way to design, understand, analyze, and improve a business model. It helps entrepreneurs and organizations see how all the key parts of a business fit together on a single page.

Ms Ndesi guided new business owners to identify and locate where their businesses are currently.

Today, 6 August 2026, the Esayidi TVET College Entrepreneurship Hub visited the Nqamuza Community Development Centre in Port Edward to present a Mini Introduction to Entrepreneurship Workshop for students currently enrolled in a three-year Plumbing Programme.

While these students are developing valuable technical skills, they are also eager to understand how to turn those skills into successful businesses. The workshop introduced them to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, including identifying business opportunities, business registration, compliance requirements, financial planning, marketing, and the realities of starting and managing a business.

At the Entrepreneurship Hub, we believe that technical skills create employability, but entrepreneurial skills create opportunities. By equipping students with both, we are empowering the next generation of artisans to become job creators rather than job seekers.

We commend the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the students and look forward to supporting many of them on their entrepreneurial journeys.

Empowering Students Beyond Survival | College Self-Mastery & Financial Wellness Day

On 25 July 2026, Esayidi TVET College's Entrepreneurship Hub proudly hosted a highly successful Self-Mastery & Financial Wellness Programme at the Gamalakhe Campus, bringing together 157 students for a transformative day of learning, personal growth, and empowerment.

Designed to equip young people with the tools to thrive both personally and professionally, the programme focused on helping students transition from merely surviving to taking ownership of their future through self-mastery, emotional resilience, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and personal development. The initiative specifically addresses the emotional, financial and social challenges many TVET students face while preparing them for independent and purpose-driven lives.

Throughout the day, students engaged in powerful and practical sessions covering:

* Mental and emotional wellness
* Spiritual wellness and personal identity
* Financial literacy
* โ Digital entrepreneurship
* Self-mastery and personal development
* Building resilience, discipline and accountability for future success

A sincere thank you goes to Ms Nozuko Ntshangase, curator of the programme, whose inspiring presentations on self-mastery encouraged students to believe in their potential and take ownership of their personal journeys. We also extend our appreciation to Mr Mtshali for his impactful session on spiritual wellness and identity, reminding students of the importance of values, purpose and inner strength.

We are equally grateful to Standard Bank for partnering with the College to deliver practical financial wellness education, empowering students with essential money management skills and encouraging responsible financial decision-making that will benefit them throughout their lives and careers.

Special appreciation is also extended to every organiser, facilitator, speaker, performer and support team whose dedication ensured the success of this impactful initiative. Your collective commitment created an environment where students felt inspired, supported and equipped to pursue their goals with renewed confidence.

At Esayidi TVET College, we remain committed to developing graduates who are not only academically prepared but also emotionally resilient, financially responsible, entrepreneurial and ready to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Together, we are empowering students beyond survivalโ€”towards purpose, leadership and lasting success.
