It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of one of your own — a dedicated officer of Proshield Security who served with honor, professionalism, and compassion.

Jody was not just a security officer; he was a pillar of strength, integrity, and calm reassurance within the community of Hercules. His presence made a real and lasting impact, and his commitment to protecting others did not go unnoticed. Whether it was through his vigilance, his kindness, or the quiet confidence with which he carried out his duties, he earned the respect and gratitude of everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones, his Proshield family, and the greater Hercules community. May his memory live on through the positive legacy he leaves behind.

PSiRA Responds: No Disarmament for Law-Abiding Security Officers

The CEO of PSiRA has spoken—no compliant private security officer will be disarmed under the new proposed regulations. The focus is not on removing fi****ms, but rather on regulating the misuse of high-calibre weapons, especially in sensitive public areas like malls, schools, hospitals, and restaurants.

But here’s the catch:
What’s being said in public and what’s being written into law seem to tell two different stories.

The new regulations suggest:

High-calibre weapons must be authorized by the company's DFO (Dedicated Fi****ms Officer), not used freely in public.

Security officers are not to be disarmed, but must carry only a "reasonable quantity" of am******on. However, what’s considered “reasonable” is still vague.

Bodyguards with visible, large fi****ms in public (while their principals are out shopping or dining) will be restricted. PSiRA recommends concealed carrying for professionalism and public comfort—which many in the industry agree with.

Here’s the concern from within the industry:
If criminals come armed with high-calibre ri**es and our response teams are limited to smaller calibres or minimal am******on, how do we protect our clients, our teams, or the public?

The call from private security professionals is simple:
Regulate—but don’t disarm.
Control—but don’t compromise operational effectiveness.
