And I have a feeling a few women in their 50s will relate to this oneโฆ
This week, one of my hats is daughter...
Iโm staying with Dad for a few days while Di is in for surgery. โค๏ธ
Another hat is part-time caravan salesperson which still makes me laugh because after travelling full-time around Australia for five years, somehow caravans have found their way back into my life! ๐

The beautiful thing about what Iโve built is that my online business largely runs through ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐ฌ, so it can fit around everything else happening in my life rather than dictating my life.
Then thereโs the family affairs hat
Mum is in aged care in Cairns, so much of what I need to organise for her is handled remotely.
And THENโฆ
Half the house currently looks like a bomb has hit it, but we're getting closer! Walls and tiling are coming up next, and I can finally see our vision starting to come together.
But here's the funny part...
I was fully retired for seven years.
And this year, I actually CHOSE to go back to a little part-time work.
Not because I had some burning desire to get back into the rat race.
Quite the opposite.
I wanted some purpose.
Something fun that got me out, talking to people and doing something I enjoyed.
And that has made me think a lot about this stage of life.
For so many years I was the people pleaser.
๐ธThe worker.
๐ธThe wife.
๐ธThe daughter.
๐ธThe problem solver.
๐ธThe organiser.
๐ธThe businesswoman.
๐ธThe one juggling everything and making sure everyone else was okay.
๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ซ?
Now, as we head further into our 50s, my perspective is changing.
I don't want to spend this chapter simply being busy.
I want to be intentional
I want work because I choose it, not because my entire life depends upon it.
๐ปI want time for our parents while they're still here.
๐ปI want time with my husband.
๐ปI want our home.
๐ปI want friendships, purpose and connection.
And I DEFINITELY want more travel and adventures. โ๏ธ๐
Maybe this stage of life isn't about taking all the hats off.
Maybe it's finally getting to CHOOSE which hats we still want to wear.
Because we're entering our later 50s now, and I'm becoming increasingly conscious that there are still so many things we want to see, experience and do.
๐Life isn't always perfectly organised.
๐Sometimes Dad needs you.
๐Sometimes Mum needs you from 2,500km away.
๐Sometimes your house is a construction zone.
๐Sometimes you decide retirement isn't quite what you expected.
๐Life is just LIFE.
But maybe the question for women our age isn't:
โWhat am I supposed to be doing by now?โ
Maybe it'sโฆ
What do I want the next chapter of my life to actually look like?โ
Is this YOU too?
Are you a woman wearing a hundred different hats, but somewhere underneath them all you're starting to wonder what "you" want from the next 10, 20 or 30 years?
Tell me in the comments:
Whatโs one hat you're ready to TAKE OFFโฆ and one you'd LOVE to put on? โค๏ธ
