Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers

Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers BFVG represents businesses helping to grow over 30 commodities in the Bundaberg region and the greater Wide Bay Burnett.

Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers Cooperative Ltd (BFVG). OUR VISION:
“TO REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF THE PRODUCTION HORTICULTURE INDUSTRY IN OUR REGION ON ISSUES CRITICAL TO THE INDUSTRY’S SUSTAINABILITY”

BFVG is a non-trading, not-for-profit membership based organisation representing the interests of fruit, vegetable, nut, herb and salad growers of the Bundaberg region and the greater Wide B

ay Burnett. Although predominantly a grower-based organisation, BFVG greatly values the contribution and support of the many businesses throughout the entire Horticulture supply chain that are just as critical to the success of the Industry as the growers themselves. BFVG was established in 1948 to represent horticulture growers in the Bundaberg district on issues critical to their overall success. As an Industry representative organisation, BFVG has evolved to become the central contact point for the Bundaberg region's Horticulture Industry. Now also with some growers and industry support businesses operating across the greater Wide Bay Burnett (including the Gympie, North Burnett, Fraser Coast, South Burnett and Cherbourg regions) as members, BFVG strives to represent the interests of the Horticulture Industry throughout the Wide Bay Burnett. The Wide Bay Burnett is one of the largest and most diverse Production Horticulture regions in Australia growing a wide range of healthy nutritious fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs and salad commodities. The Bundaberg region alone is estimated to have an annual farm gate value of more than $500 million. Add to this the value of horticulture commodities grown throughout the rest of the Wide Bay Burnett, it is not hard to realise the significance of the region to Queensland's economy and our nation's food security. The total farm-gate value of the Wide Bay Burnett Horticulture Industry is estimated to be fast approaching $1.5 billion!

The Fresh Seconds Project is officially underway!

WYLD Projects Indigenous Corporation students spent their first day on farm with Brendan and Judy Boon, harvesting sweetpotatoes. Those same sweetpotatoes will be used by students at Thabeban State School to make delicious sweetpotato brownies, with the high school students helping share the journey from farm to fork.

Reducing food waste, supporting healthy eating, and inspiring the next generation, one sweetpotato at a time🧡
