Vale, Joseph McGrail - Bateup 🤍

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Joseph McGrail - Bateup, a much-loved member of the Victoria’s Models family since 2022.

Joe was truly one of a kind. A man with a big heart, an even bigger voice, and a lifetime of stories, achievements and adventures that will ensure he is never forgotten.

Recently crowned the Guinness World Record holder for the world’s loudest yell, Joe went out on cloud nine, having achieved something extraordinary that perfectly suited a man who was never afraid to make himself heard. He was also a much loved and well known town crier across Canberra and regional NSW, recognised and cherished by so many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe was a consistent and enthusiastic actor, with great love for the arts. He always kept in touch with the agency and never failed to bring his infectious energy to our weekly phone calls and agency catch ups. Joe was always full of gratitude.

It seems unfair how life twists and turns. To have someone so full of life leave us so suddenly. But perhaps there is some comfort in knowing Joe left this world having reached another incredible milestone and doing what he did best - making memories and living his best life.

We will miss his voice and his wonderful spirit.

Joe - you certainly made yourself heard and you will never be forgotten. 🤍

Q & A with Joseph:
🎤What is your biggest achievement?
This seems to change all the time. At the moment it would be being awarded the Guinness World Record for the Loudest Shout at 122.4 dB. Before that it would have been owning my 1966 MGB
🎤If you had your own late night talk show, who would you invite as your first guest?
I think my first guest would be Nathan Foley from Hi5 as he is one of my mates. We wouldn’t talk about his time on the show, but about the shows he has on now.
🎤What is your go-to karaoke song?
It used to be the original “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. This song has won me many prizes including trips away. However now it would be “Sweet Caroline”. This is the one that gets the audience involved and has allowed me to be apart of “The Voice of the Pacific” on a cruise ship.
🎤What’s the most embarrassing fashion trend you used to rock?
This would be when I was young wearing a “Safari Suit” OMG that is the worst look
🎤What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?
“You only have the chance to live your life the once so make sure you live it to the best. Do as much as you can”
🎤If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
There are so many things I would like to be an expert at but I think being a producer of big theatre shows and being successful would be great.
