Our family have been living & loving this land for 200yrs. In 1821, Gala Estate was granted to James Amos.

Originally of Galashiels in Scotland, our family now makes up the 6th, 7th and 8th generations of descendants .Producing a stunning range of hand-crafted, estate grown ,multi award winning wines.

2024 Estate ‘The Naturalist’ Chardonnay - a w**e that speaks of where it comes from & reminds us why place matters.

Howard Amos once rode his horse Violet around Gala, observing the endemic flora & fauna. His extensive natural history collection at Gala taught him about rocks, minerals & the soil on which he farmed.

In the glass expect yellow fruits, stone, hints of spice & a saline acidity. Come discover it at our cellar door in Cranbrook.

FROSTY VINES, EARLY STARTS •

Travis and Adam were up early this week, as the vines have a frost alarm!

When temperatures dropped to - 4 degrees in our Road Block Chardonnay, we turned on the sprinklers - and the vines took on this incredibly icy coating ❄️

That ice is actually helping protect the precious new buds with some cool energy! A fine layer of ice forms, helping insulate and protect them from frost burn until temperatures rise again.

It starts beneath the vines •

Our Cranbrook vineyard’s ironstone soils are an important part of the terroir that shapes our w**es. Combined with our north-facing slopes, which receive abundant sunshine to help accelerate ripening.

The ironstone naturally moderates vine vigour, encouraging smaller more concentrated bunches.

The result - Deeper colour, structure & aromatic complexity - So you can actually taste the character of this place in every glass of Gala!

A Gold for a sense of place •

The international Cool Climate W**e Show is where cool-climate w**es shine brightest. It’s wonderful to see our 2024 Gala Estate ‘The Settlers’ Pinot Noir among such fine cool-climate company.

Named ‘The Settlers’ respecting those that have come before us & cared for this land, that we are blessed to be custodians of, proudly growing Pinot Noir on Tasmania’s East Coast.

This 2024 vintage from The Heirloom’s Series (Black Label) was a smaller yield of superb complexity - a Limited Pre-Release is now available online to reward you now or with cellaring. 🍷

SPRING HAS SPRUNG AT GALA •

The first signs of the new season are here, with budburst underway in our Chardonnay block - usually the first of our vines to wake from its winter slumber.

There’s something pretty special about this time of year. As the days get longer, warmer sunshine, and with it, the promise of another vintage. 💚

Our Vintage Sparkling Rose is back!

After a much anticipated wait! Introducing the new vintage 2021 - with a slight name change, but the same impeccably balanced, refined drop we all know & love!

Now named ‘Lavinia & Mathilda’ in honour of the first children born at Gala in 1823, this special vintage celebrates both our world-class sparkling w**e & the rich heritage of our land here in Cranbrook.

And there’s even more good news…Our Cellar Door is back open too! 🥂
