Pixels are brilliant. They just don’t ring you back to ask if you really meant to print last year’s phone number on 5,000 brochures. 😄 One of our recent blogs looks at why design and print still need people: the typos spellcheck misses, the colours that change between screen and paper and the questions that turn an order into a finished product. It’s a light read with a serious point behind it. Head to our website to read it!

Happiness matters. ✨

Sometimes, it isn’t about a medical breakthrough or a scientific discovery. Sometimes, it’s about the power of giving someone, especially a child, something to look forward to.

As parents, we become the advocates, the organisers and the decision makers. We carry the worries, make the hard decisions and do everything we can to make things better for our children.

Sometimes, a child needs a little escape from all of that. They need a glowing Starlight Captain from the Starlight Universe to come along and rescue them for a moment, bringing a little magic, a big smile and something wonderful to look forward to.

Over the years, we’ve heard thousands of stories about the difference Starlight makes. And somewhere, right now, there is a child who needs that little moment of happiness.

So, the next time you see a little Starlight donation box at your local chemist, walk past a Starlight fundraiser at a shopping centre, or feel inspired to make a bigger contribution, please consider supporting this incredible organisation. You can also reach out to one of your local Starlight board members to find out how you can help.

When we come together, we can make a real difference in a child’s world.

We absolutely love being surrounded by good people doing good things for the right reasons!

And we especially love these incredible women, each coming from different walks of life, bringing their own experiences, connections and passion together for one common purpose: raising funds to make a difference in the lives of children who need it most.

Sometimes, happiness really is the greatest gift we can give.

Have a beautiful day. ❤️✨

Back in Darwin and back to the heat after an outstanding week on the Visual Media Association (VMA) UK Print Tour. From London to Watford, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham, the tour gave us direct access to some of the UK’s leading print and visual communications businesses, along with three days at The Print Show in Birmingham.
Three observations I’ve brought home:
Automation is now a competitive necessity. Touring operations such as Augustus Martin in East London and Precision Proco in Sheffield showed how investment in automation and integrated workflow is reducing labour intensity, lifting consistency and shortening turnaround times. The Print Show sessions on robotics and inkjet and hybrid printing reinforced how quickly this is moving.
The strongest printers are creative partners, not suppliers. At Stylographics, ImageCo and Hickling & Squires, the common thread was businesses embedded in their clients’ operations through print management, online ordering and data-driven services. Sessions on AI and the future of print made the same point: the value is increasingly in what surrounds the print.
People and leadership remain the foundation. Technology changes quickly, but skills, culture and leadership determine who benefits from it. It was encouraging to see the focus on workforce development, and on the women leading change across our industry internationally.
The challenges we face in Australia are shared across markets, and the ideas from this tour will directly inform how we continue to develop our services at Colemans Printing for our clients across the Northern Territory. Above all, it was a week of listening and learning.
My sincere thanks to VMA CEO Kellie Northwood for an exceptionally well-organised program, and to the VMA Board and sponsors. Thank you also to everyone who has shared and tagged me in posts from the tour. I’m grateful for the support. Love Your Most Trusted Friend in Printing Mags.

Three of our team headed to Sydney last week for Visual Impact 2026 with one question in mind:

What can we bring back to Darwin that makes things better for our customers?

Trade shows are full of impressive machines, new technology and clever ideas. For us, the value is working out what can genuinely help our customers.

Better turnaround times. More creative options. Smarter production. New materials and finishes. And technology that makes ordering and producing repeat work simpler.

We have been printing in the Territory for more than 70 years, and staying relevant means continuing to learn, invest and improve.

Not technology for technology’s sake. Investment that helps us make our customers look good and be successful.

A few ideas definitely made the trip back to Darwin with us.

As the most trusted printer in the North, the Colemans Printing team will be at Energy Club NT's 2026 Meet the Buyer: Connecting Capability to Opportunity, presented by INPEX, with capability matching by ICN NT.

The Territory's energy, resources and infrastructure sectors run on more than plant, pipelines and people. They run on communication. Site safety signage. Equipment and asset labelling built to survive heat, dust and years outdoors. Aluminium panels for permanent site and facility signage. Tender documentation, inductions, corporate collateral, and the everyday print that keeps a project compliant, safe and moving.

Print remains one of the most essential and most underestimated parts of how major projects actually operate. It's not legacy. It's infrastructure.
Tomorrow, take a look around. The pull up banners. The media walls. The capability statements handed across the table. That's print doing exactly what it's meant to do, representing your brand.

Colemans Printing has spent more than 70 years building the local capability to deliver all of it: commercial and digital printing, signage, labels and creative services, from our own factories in Darwin and Alice Springs, with the reliability and turnaround certainty government, defence and resources projects need from a Territory-based partner.

We'll be around the Industry Support Zone tomorrow. If your project needs signage, labels, aluminium panels or print done right, come and find us.

Colemans Opens Its Doors for Master Builders NT Women in Construction Site Visit and Customers are Welcome from 8:30am on Monday 27 July. Yes Colemans Creative + Printing + Signage will host the Master Builders NT Women in Construction Site Visit on Monday 27 July 2026, giving members a member-only look inside one of Darwin's leading creative and printing operations.
A Members-Only Look Behind the Scenes
The invitation comes from Colemans Printing CEO Magdaline Coleman. Around 30 to 50 members from across the construction, manufacturing and creative industries are expected to attend, taking in a guided tour of the Colemans production floor, design studio and signage airconditioned factory. For members, it's a rare opportunity to see how a 70-year-old Territory business runs day to day from concept through design, production and delivery and to connect with other women working in and around the building and construction sector.
The visit will be hosted by Magdaline Coleman (CEO), Michelle Honeybun (Head of Creative Solution) and Amberley Vegter (Digital Projects & Print Solutions), who will walk attendees through how Colemans supports clients across government, defence, corporate, health and community sectors alongside building and construction.
Supporting Women Across Construction, Manufacturing and Creative Industries
“Women in construction, manufacturing and the creative industries bring a perspective this sector needs more of. Opening our doors to the Master Builders NT network is one small way we can support that,” said Magdaline Coleman. Customers are welcome to RSVP [email protected]

On Wednesday 8 July 2026, Colemans Printing hosted The Hon. Angus Taylor, Federal Leader of the Opposition, at our Darwin facility. It was a fitting follow-on from being named the NT Chamber of Commerce's 2025 Business of the Year.

Over 90 minutes we talked through the practical realities of running a manufacturing business in the Territory. Freight and energy costs here are higher than ever before, and the cost of goods across our industry has been rising steadily. That pressure doesn't ease just because a business is doing well and continuing to invest in processes, people, and equipment.

We also talked about the importance of protecting local manufacturing capability and sovereignty here in the NT. It's a big part of why we keep investing in automation and manufacturing at Colemans. It allows us to stay competitive on quality and turnaround without compromising on being a genuinely local, Territory-based operation.

These are Territory issues, not party-political ones. We'll have the same conversation with any decision-maker in a position to help Northern Territory business.

Seventy-plus years in, Colemans remains focused on being part of the conversation that shapes the Territory's economic future. Not just printing for it.
