We were very excited to welcome Minister Felix Ellis MP to officially launch the NECA Training Trailer and meet our first cohort of Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) students last week.

The NECA Training Trailer is a significant step forward in bringing hands-on electrical training directly to communities across Tasmania, helping students explore rewarding careers in the electrotechnology industry.

It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm of our students as they showcased their skills and discussed their career aspirations with Minister Ellis.

A big thank you to Minister Ellis for his support of vocational education and training, and to everyone involved in making this initiative a reality. We look forward to inspiring the next generation of electrical apprentices and industry professionals.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn more about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider the role we each play in building a more respectful and inclusive future.

For NECA Education & Careers, that role sits closely with what we do every day: creating pathways into training, employment and long-term careers across the electrical and communications industry.

Reconciliation is not something that happens in words alone. It is strengthened through action, opportunity, listening, learning and building workplaces where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel respected, supported and able to thrive.

As an education and employment organisation, we recognise the importance of opening doors, supporting participation and helping build an industry where every person has the chance to learn, work, grow and lead.

This National Reconciliation Week, we encourage our community to take the time to reflect, listen and learn.

Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and in our industry, it’s a reminder that safety isn’t something we switch on for a moment, it’s something we carry with us on every job, on every site, every single day.

At NECA Education & Careers, we see first hand how important that consistency is, because while most people understand what safe work looks like, the real challenge is making sure it holds up when the pressure is on, when timelines are tight, and when the day doesn’t go to plan.

That’s usually where the difference shows.

So rather than a big statement, today is a good opportunity to pause for a minute and have a proper check-in with yourself or your team…

👉 When was the last time you refreshed your CPR or LVR training, and are you confident you’d know exactly what to do if something went wrong?
👉 Would your team feel comfortable speaking up or stopping a job if something didn’t look right, even if it meant slowing things down?
👉 And are your safety practices something you actively live on site, or something that only gets attention when it’s time to tick a box?

Because the strongest safety cultures aren’t built through awareness alone, they’re built through habits, repetition, and the small decisions made every day that keep people safe without needing to think twice about it.

Earth Day is a reminder that the transition to a more sustainable future isn’t just a global ambition, but a practical, on-the-ground effort happening every day across our industry.

At NECA Education & Careers, we see first hand the critical role electricians play in shaping that future.

It was great to see our southern team out and about at the 2026 Hobart & Southern Tasmania Employment & Careers Expo this week.

With more than 2,700 attendees, 135+ exhibitors and over 100 live job opportunities on offer, it was an incredible day connecting with people exploring their next step.

From school leavers to career changers, there were so many great conversations about pathways into the electrical industry and the opportunities ahead.
