After 9 years of iRacing I have finally reached a personal goal. A huge thank you to Full Send SimSport who have created a pathway & started to bring Aussie females of any age or ability together to race. It would be great to see Australian Women in eMotorsports grow & also raise the awareness of the benefits of simulated driving, not only for racing but also community driver training.

This weekend two female Aussie teams competed at the Watkins Glen 6hr, a multiclass event. We are amateur drivers of various ages with a love of racing, happy to race to the best of our ability & with an aim to finish.

I’m thankful to have raced with other Australian females in eSports. My first teams event was a Bathurst 1000 with Jasmine. We used to race together in the Digital Global Racing team. She has had a break for a few years & now we have teamed up again. We had a great race even though there were a few incidents, technical hitches & light rain at the end. We qualified in P52 (my dads race no.🙏), finished P38 overall & P22 in the GT3 class. So grateful for FSS team help.

A message received at the end of the race from a fellow Aussie team was awesome! “Your team has been predictable all day making it easy to pass safely.” Driver N.F.

Speaks volumes doesn’t it.
Take care everyone, drive safe.

Have you noticed how much space Blind Spot Monitoring gives between overtaken cars?

What is Blind Spot Monitoring?
It’s the sensors to detect vehicles in your blind spots but not all cars have this feature. It alerts you with a visual icon or light on your side mirror & an optional audible warning if you indicate to merge.

So how much space is programmed? Not a lot for stopping & a lot less than the 2 second gap rule! My guess is 5 meters from when the sensor light goes out as a vehicle passes AND remember your speed plays an important factor. You have no chance with 5 meters space in a 110kph zone!

If the driver then changes lanes in front of you, is the driver aware of their vehicle size blocking your vision, not to mention allowing for the weather conditions eg rain spray. Another thought, has the size & weight of the overtaken vehicle been considered. What’s their stopping distance eg heavy vehicles.

Is the overtaking driver shoulder checking or become complacent with driving aids.
Is the overtaking driver aware of activating sensor features on the overtaken car?
Consider new model vehicles with brake assist, mine is a sudden activation while I’m on cruise control & it’s not a comfortable feeling when someone cuts in front. Note not every vehicle will have the same features but it would be courteous to give a driver more space.

Are driving aids helping or hindering… Plan your lane changes, look ahead, be aware of what’s behind & remember to shoulder check please.

Drive better together.

What does the future hold?
Would you drive a driverless car? Will the road to autonomy deplete human brain & body function? Are we already on this path?

What affect will AI have on the overall health of humans. Strength, Coordination, Central Nervous System, Peripheral Nervous System etc, this is a very complex topic.

What adaptations around AI will be needed for all drivers (& life in general) in the future? What information or training will be provided? If you don’t use it you loose it!

How high is the road toll going to be before technology is tested, proven & implemented? The expense is already devastating!

Choices vs Consequences.

FYI My Choices (thankfully no Consequences) intended.

Merge vision & space - The next exit ahead is renowned for traffic backing up/stopped on to the highway. This day was a good run but on other days it's good to have vision & space on the left just in case. Beware rapid lane changes & speed differences between lanes.

To the left - more vision, calmer traffic flow & a way out in case of an emergency. Overtake as required.

Reduce expenses - save on expenses & demerit points = less stress.

Congestion ahead - eyes forward scanning for early signs of brake lights or movement. This day the vehicle in front had no working brake lights.

This is your permission to pause, play & experiment. Unlock your driving potential & possibilities with technology.

iDriveSim Training is working towards shaping the future of driving form, cognition & social behaviour on our roads. One goal is to help drivers to recognise & understand their childhood imprints. These imprints are learnt in the 0-7 years of age, everyone has them & they can be retrained (if we know how & choose to take action).

In a world full of bad news iDriveSim Training is also assisting drivers to learn & recognise the differences between their Sympathetic & Parasympathetic Nervous Systems. “We are all coming from protection… we are all trying to keep ourselves safe.” Lael Stone.

Gain valuable knowledge for your driving toolbox & manage your driving anxiety or stress. Choose from two types of simulator software to test drive & re-imprint your basic driving skills.

iDriveSim Training is bringing drivers of ALL ages in the community back together. Don’t forget to ask for the “FFFDrive”discount, this Friday.

“The best drivers regardless of age have learnt to stop reacting & start anticipating.”
