We're a small boutique accounting firm located in the beautiful Channel region of Southern Tasmania, proudly providing accounting, taxation and bookkeeping services to clients Australia-wide.

If you're local, I'm happy to visit you at home or meet you for a coffee (or a chai latte!) somewhere in the Channel area, including Kingston, Margate, Snug, Kettering, Woodbridge, Garden Island, Cygnet, Huonville and surrounding areas.

If you're further afield, that's no problem at all. We can work together using whatever you're most comfortable with—phone, Zoom, email or Dropbox.

Celebrating the fact that our business name and logo have been registered as a Trade Mark under the Trade Marks Act 1995!
I have been in business since 1999 and have rebranded a couple of times - I started out as Behrens Accounting Services from 1999 - 2015, then Channel Bookkeeping from 2015 - 2023, then rebranded to Channel Accounting & Taxation.
Last year another person registered a business using the same name as one of my previous trading names which annoyed me a lot. Even though I no longer trade under the old names, I still use some of the old email addresses linked to that name. I have worked hard for a couple of decades to build my business and want to protect my work and reputation.
So why register a Trademark?
Your business name and brand are among your most valuable assets. Registering a trademark in Australia is an important way to protect the goodwill, reputation, and recognition you have worked hard to establish. A registered trademark provides exclusive rights to your brand and helps prevent others from using similar names, logos, or branding that could confuse customers. It can also increase the value of your business, support future growth, and provide stronger legal remedies if your intellectual property is infringed. Investing in trademark protection today can help safeguard your business's identity and reputation for years to come.
It doesn't cost a lot to do, but the application and approval process take up to 6 months and once approved, generally helps to protect you for 10 years before you need to renew. Here is some information about protecting your IP:)
