I’ve been doing this longer than most “coaches” have had an ABN.

So when I asked ChatGPT to describe me based on everything it knows... let’s just say I was curious

Here’s what it came back with:

> You’re the bold blend of boss, mentor, and maker — a whip-smart doer with a creative streak as wide as the Aussie sky. You don’t just sell products — you build communities, cheer on clients, and tell stories with heart (and usually a coffee in hand)

It also dropped this one-liner that stopped me in my tracks:

(I mean… tell me that’s not the vibe.)

Marketing is no longer about shouting the loudest, discounting the deepest, or plastering your product all over socials. Like Seth Godin said:

👉 “Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell.”

Why? Because humans connect to stories. Stories build trust, make people feel seen, and stick in their memory way longer than a product feature list ever will.

Think about it—if you tell me your candle is made from soy wax, cool. But if you tell me the story of how you created it while sitting at your kitchen table during lockdown, testing scents until your house smelt like vanilla heaven… now I’m hooked. I’m invested in you and your brand, not just the product.

Use this simple framework for your next post:
1 - The Problem – What was wrong, missing, or frustrating for your client/customer?

2 - The Journey – What steps were taken to fix it? (this is where you and your process come in).

3 - The Result/Transformation – What changed for them after working with you or using your product/service?

Are you the world’s best-kept secret? 👀

You can be the most talented, experienced, incredible business owner out there, but if you’re not consistently telling people about it, no one will know. And worse? They’ll forget.

Marketing isn’t about being loud or pushy. It’s about being VISIBLE. Because people need reminders, constant reminders that you exist, that you’re brilliant at what you do, and that you’re the one they should choose.

If you’re not showing up regularly, you’re leaving money (and opportunities) on the table.

So ask yourself: are you showing up enough for people to remember you?

Here’s what I’ve learnt in 23 years of doing this small business thing, no fluff, just facts:

• It’s on YOU to get yourself where you want to be. No one’s coming to drag you there.

• Don’t expect applause or constant support, it can be lonely.

• You’ll need more money and more time than you ever thought.

• Your personal baggage? It’s coming with you… unless you deal with it.

• Business is a rollercoaster. The quicker you accept the ups and downs, the easier the ride becomes.

• Get a grip on your money. Pay yourself. Pay your super. Check your profit.

• You won’t know everything. So stop wasting time and pay someone to teach you.

• Success is not a solo sport. Build a team — and make sure you actually like them.

• Rest isn’t a reward, it’s a requirement. Learn how to switch off and come back clearer.

• And finally — build YOUR version of success, not what Instagram is yelling at you.

This is the stuff no one tells you in the beginning.
It’s real. It’s messy. It’s totally worth it.

Maybe, baby it's 20+ years in business... but I find myself less and less impressed by the shouty business coaches flexing their “7 figures” and curated lifestyles (honestly, is any of it even real?).
