FREE/CHEAP TAFE/VOCATIONAL COURSES IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA FOR CERTAIN TEMPORARY VISA HOLDERS

The WA government and other states are offering cheap/free courses for Australian citizens and permanent residents.

The Western Australian government has also made these cheap and free courses available to certain temporary visa holders:

• holders of a sub-class 300, 309, 444, 445, 449, 461, 785, 786, 790, or 820 visa;
• secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 188, 457, 482, 489, 491 or 494 visa;
• holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790;
• holders of a bridging visa who are eligible to work, and who have made a valid application for a subclass 866.

A list of those courses can be found on this website: https://www.jobsandskills.wa.gov.au/fee-free-low-fee

Warning: Major Disadvantages for Student Visa Appealers! 🚨

The Albanese Government has passed the Administrative Review Tribunal and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025, forcing big changes at the ART.

Huge Drawback for Students: Student visa refusal reviews are now mandatory "on the papers"—NO ORAL HEARINGS ALLOWED! You’re stuck submitting everything in writing, with no chance to explain your case live, answer questions, or respond to concerns in real-time. This risks rushed decisions based on documents alone, potentially overlooking key nuances in complex student cases.

Attorney General Michelle Rowland claims efficiency, but critics say it silences students.

The Albanese Government has today passed legislation to deliver a stronger, more efficient Administrative Review Tribunal (the Tribunal), while continuing to ensure that applicants can meaningfully present their case in full.
