Electricity prices keep creeping up, and Synergy’s latest rate changes are another reminder that the cost of staying on the grid isn’t getting any cheaper.

One of the best ways to take some control back is by producing your own energy with a solar and battery system. Not only can it help reduce your power bills, but it also gives you a bit more protection from future price increases and helps you use more of your own energy when you need it most.

If you’ve been thinking about solar, now is a good time to take a closer look.

Check out Synergy's website for the exact price changes.

More and more suburban families are taking control of their power bills with solar, batteries and smart energy apps, and it’s easy to see why. With electricity costs rising, more households are looking for ways to reduce bills, stay informed and keep the lights on during blackouts.

The key is understanding how and when you use power, and making small changes to your daily habits to maximise your energy.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle is brewing off WA's coast with high winds and heavy rain incoming this weekend. Here's a quick checklist to prepare:

1. Secure all loose outdoor items.

2. Clear gutters, remove shade sails and upturn trampolines.

3. Check Emergency WA to see the latest warnings and advice for your area.

We would recommend keeping an eye on your solar battery charge levels now. If you experience a blackout, your solar + battery system can keep the lights on, fridge running & devices charged.

The National Battery Rebate just had a major update to expand and become more sustainable long term. The government has boosted the Cheaper Home Batteries Program to $7.2 billion, but from May 2026 the rebate will step down faster and shift to a tiered system, meaning the highest discounts won’t last forever. This is a sensible solution to ensure more homes can access the rebates while providing longevity to the program.

Plico has had a huge year helping Aussie households access cleaner, cheaper, more reliable energy!

In 2025 we:

Installed our 3,500th home battery, giving thousands of families more energy independence, bill certainty and blackout protection.

Secured up to $35 million in solar and battery finance through the CEFC Household Energy Upgrades Fund™ to help roll out more Plico systems and our Virtual Power Plant across Australia.

Partnered with Stockland so every new home in their Nara community comes with solar, battery and VPP built in from day one.

Backed more local climate and resilience projects through the Plico Community Council fund.

None of this happens without our amazing members, partners, investors and team. Here’s to an even bigger 2026 as we keep building a more sustainable energy future together.
